At this point, we're about 10 kms west of the Utah/Colorado border.

Some cool colours! Those rocks look purple!

I was just informed (by an American) that the purple-coloured mountains of Colorado is exactly what inspired Katharine Lee Bates to pen the line "Purple mountain majesties" in the song "America the Beautiful".

O beautiful for spacious skies
For amber waves of grain
For purple mountain majesties
Above the fruited plain!
