Riding in rain (pic)...

What? Perfed leathers are fine. You just get more wet.

I also wouldn't want to use jigaloo on leathers since the first aid info for skin exposure mentions double bagging contaminated clothing and waiting for "proper disposal".

Why not just spend $10 on a product meant for leather, specifically?

jeez, are people really this naive? It's silicone, the exact same stuff the use at leather tanners to waterproof leather. For $10, you get 4X the amount you would get from a "leather specific" product.

I'll just leave this here:

Jig-A-Loo contains silicone, 30-60% methylene chloride and 10-30% perchloroethylene[SUP][2][/SUP] Methylene chloride is the active ingredient in many paint strippers and perchloroethylene is the most common dry cleaning fluid. They are both aggressive and toxic chlorinated solvents. Although the manufacturer emphasizes the lack of petroleum distillates, these chlorinated solvents are more toxic than the petroleum solvent heptane, which is commonly used as solvent for US market silicone lubricants. OSHA allows much lower permissible exposure level for these chlorinated solvents compared to heptane.

100PPM TWA Tetrachloroethylene
25PPM TWA Methylene Chloride

For comparison permissible exposure level of heptane is much higher at 500PPM TWA [SUP][3][/SUP]

TWA is an 8 hour time weighed average exposure level deemed to be safe by US OSHA. [SUP][4][/SUP]
