Riding in rain (pic)...

Seeing so many riders in the rain today got me wondering if I am the only one who checks the weather? Got caught in rain before, could not see a damn thing, braking was terrible, turning was worse and my leathers were ruined.

Snapped a pic of this poor guy today on drive home from work:

Also, snapped this squid at Eglington and Laird :

Riding in the rain isn't so bad. I just dislike cleaning my bike after. Otherwise if you're prepared it's just one of those things. :dontknow:

As for pic #2... Captain squid and his sandals. Honestly wtf is wrong with people?

Its ok...he's on a gixxer, that should explain it all.

Actually I saw the king of squids the other day. Shorts and sandals. No shirt or gloves but it was cool... He had mad tats. All while riding a cbr. I wish I could have snapped a pic

I was just picking up my dry cleaning, it was a short ride okay!

I'm a fair-weather rider. Riding in the rain isn't difficult (just watch out for the usual slippery stuff like paint and tracks) but I like keeping my bike and gear clean. I still average 20,000k's a year on the bike so i think i can cage it in the rain.

I ride in the rain all the time; some years you would miss half the season if you only rode on dry days. Water-proof gear and or a good rain suit make it less uncomfortable, as does a bike with some wind/weather protection provided by a fairing and windshield. My textile jacket and pants are fairly water-proof for light showers and I always have my rain suit in one of my side cases for the times when I am caught in heavier downpours.

All you need to do is use more caution and take it slower on wet roads. Painted lines, tar snakes, pools of water on the road and the oily part of the centre of the lanes are all things to watch for. It is like driving in the winter, allow more space to stop and be smooth with the throttle.

The bonus for me is a ride in the rain is my kind of bike wash. That is the benefit of having a bike with little to no chrome; it just needs a quick wipe with a towel after a ride in the rain to make it look clean. Actually that is pretty much the only time my bike sees water because I am not one to get a bucket and hose.

I ride in the rain but not on purpose. You just can't not ride everyday when it says its raining. Sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't. Really rain isn't that bad unless it's torrential and those aren't that regular.

Sooner or later you just go eff it, can't let the crappy weather app take away all my riding time!

I keep an eye on the weather. If it's raining for my commute to work, I'll take the car. If it's not going to rain until after I get to work, I'll ride. I don't mind getting wet on the way home, but getting wet going to work sucks.

Road last night across the city last night. Had a blast. Keep in high spirits and it's not that bad. Music helps greatly.

I dont think many people want to ride in the rain. I don't. I don't go out to ride if it is raining, but there are times I have been out an caught in the rain. what are you going to do???

for some people they dont have the luxury of a car as an alternative

I read an article once that said maybe riders should go out once in a while to practice riding in the rain so when you finally get caught, and you will, it isn't as stressful.

Last year, my bike was my only transportation to work (Kitchener to Milton), I rode rain or shine from March/April until December as the wife had the car.

If your prepared its not that bad, Only time I had to pull over was when we got close to 40mm in an hour. I just pulled over under a bridge and hung out until it died down.

Its when you get caught in the snow that is scary.

Advil. No need to ride in pain.

I do it the same way...I don't really care if I get wet on the way home.

I got caught in it last night and realized my waterproofs are as waterproof as a paper bag. Still, I actually enjoyed the experience and know I need a new suite :)
