Riding Down Under - Tropical Cairns Australia

Back in the feathers legit

Hot day, nice chicken club at Machens Beach coffee shop and chat with buddy. Felt the ride up and back on the Gillies yesterday tho was perfect weather for it.
Today's ride was quite short and a bit sore afterward tho helped partner lug soil for her garden....on a 32 feels like 36 day....not the best climate for that sort.
Was great to have coffee tho and decent chat near the Pacific.

I need to push to sell some stuff as my mad money fun is dry. Might have a new to me summer motorcycle jacket arriving in a few hours.

One of my current jackets is 40 years old and the other I'm not sure of construction durability ( HWK ) tho I will sell it on.
Dririder is an Australian brand and this is built for hot weather with lots of mesh for airflow...like the red flashes to match my pretty red Honda

Excellent visibility patches all over. ...comes with liners I don't need. Wearing a waterproof liner in this weather ( 32 felt like 36 today ) just turns the jacket into a sauna.
Better to just get wet then get dry right quick. Most times a bit of rain is welcome to cool things tho I try and stay out of the frong strangler downpours. Right now it is just coastal showers passing through quickly.
Got s nibble on selling the CB500F ....we'll see.
......
Seller turned up right on time at 5.45 am...jacket was lovely BUT....

Damn that jacket was just a smidgeon too tight across the chest. It was wearable and the waist was okay - all else fitted but chest size and that's kinda a no go point.
Could do it up completely - hardly used at all and liked the design but I carry stuff in the pockets of my riding shirts and that would have made it worse
Sleeve length was spot on and honestly was not a critical need ....have two serviceable jackets already ....but it looked soooo nice.
......
Bolognese porridge for brekkie plus some cinnamon toast on the protein bread then back to bed. A $6 Chicken feed from Jacks for lunch.
31 gm protein ...that will do me nicely and it tastes really good.

It's only 6.30 am and I could get 3+ more hours sleep but way too buzzy. ...had some help staying awake for the 5.30 am meet up which went smoothly cept for a noisy puppy in the background.

Partner off to Brisbane for a back checkup ....same guy that informed her her spine was "popcorn" from too many years being a tall nurse.
Now she''s a 2" shorter retired nurse with back issues....she started her career before they had all the fancy dan adjustable beds and lifts they have now.

I helped her lug some heaviish garden soil yesterday from the car to the back garden .... save her back a bit tho I wasn't exactly thrilled either. Our little garden cart not meant for the weight of three bags of soil x 4 trips....might have been easier to carry one at a time given two flat tires on the much abused cart

...
Got my Sennheiser Momentum 4 headphones back from warranty swap. The Anker 30s I've been using in the meantime are perfectly fine.....the Momentum a whole 'nother world. Effortless quality. One of the easier decisions.

I guess absence does make the heart grow fonder 🤗
I only got less than 4 hrs sleep last night ...just about tempted to laze away the day wallowing in superb sound 🎶🎶

A slightly manic Noraly but very happy. Japan brings memories for me...oddly the twin mirrors which in the 70s I was there were always perched on the front fenders. Very lockstep driving on the multi-lane - no one speeding or passing or pushing to get in. How civilized compared to Trawna

Back to Sean and Emily making their way down the east coast.

Damn so hard to log in

Well it's all green

I’m enjoying food immensely after the “not so interested” Ozempic and other glutide run….but I’m up 5kg too 🫪 - however that was starting before I stopped the Ozempic and one reason I quit for a bit - if I wasn’t getting benefit and losing food enjoyment why bother. 🤷‍♂️

Now I did bring half the 18 nuggets home and brought 60% of the chicken schnitzel home from Bowls Club last night, both will serve for protein snacks over the next couple days.
I’ve shifted off some sugar intake - swapped jam out for dipping toast in bolognese sauce….can’t rely on my appetite being curbed by a drug for the moment .

Gonna order my annual blood tests A1C etc today and see where I’m at.
Will likely microdose Ozempic at below .25 and see how that goes.
It is nice to be free of the occasional runs which is a common side effect.
The state of the art in glutide drugs is moving rapidly.
The injection once a week are not bothersome….fewer digestive side effects would be nice.
The best news aside from enjoying food again is tolerating a good flat white when out.

Most articles from reputable sources indicate Ozempic et al are lifelong drugs and cost is not an issue in Australia so I’ll likely keep fine tuning.

They keep discovering new benefits for the drug category …Chrons benefit and long Covid lately.
Good friends have one each and are in disability as a result…I feel so bad for them.
Still in their 30s and really struggling with two beastly conditions without permanent cures.
( late night chatty from down under - nicest time of day …)

I bought the Sennheiser Momentum4s as my offset for getting deaf and still wanting high end sound without disturbing Jude or the neighbors. Still an audiophile at heart. The Anker Q30s are fine for TV/movies and a bit less hassle as the Momentum touch controls are annoying at times - the Q30s not having them is actually a benefit even tho the SQ is not comparable.

The P31i ear buds are annoying for inadvertent control actions and SQ is just okay but the ANC when wearing the helmet is surprisingly good plus they are comfortable…going to try them later today in the already quiet Schuberth C3 helmet. Might switch back to it….it needs a new visor and the standard clear visor runs $120 which I can’t justify given the decent new helmet I got was $175 shipped and a better fit tho not as quiet. The P31i ANC ear buds definitely quiet things down in the new helmet tho not completely - will be interesting to see how they do in the C3.

The P31i cost half of what a new visor alone for the Schuberth costs. 🧐
A new helmet from them runs as high as $2190 🫪 and interesting….they have an ANC version for $1230. 😏

German quality nice to have but $$$$$……
and no one makes a third party visor 🥴

If the P31s are really good in the Schuberth I’ll spring for a new visor …might as well enjoy my few riding years left.

Really enjoying this series.

Hot n muggy day...okay under the fan.

31 gm protein 🤗

Thinking of selling my HWK ballistic motorcycle jacket after finding out it is not well constructed and lots of lies as to materials.

It is comfortable tho. very good ventilation and visible.
I had a problem with their motorcycle pants and got full credit from them.

I'll stick with my forever old Joe Rocket ( 40 years plus ) which has my upgraded armour in it.

Well the test of the P31i in the Schuberth C3 was very clear...they are reaaaaallly nice and the whole thing very quiet..
I might spring for a new main visor tho the helmet is fine with just my riding glasses.
Glad I did not sell the C3.

Also tried the HWK jacket and it sure has good air flow on this hot and muggy day.

Scored a $5 Bacon Deluxe thanks to Shake n Win. 25 gm protein, tasty but not all that healthy.

Long wait for my lunch ...something up with their order system - see if I can score a free latte for the wait. :sneaky:

Dueling coffee shops near each other and home and even closer to our new place if we get it.
Enjoyed the brownie and small latte yesterday for $10 with excellent a/c

Competition is easier parking for me and I know the food is good but prices normally too high but convinced them that a small latte and a big choco bickie for $10 was a good idea. All their food is made on premises.
Image
Very filling bickie ...have to think not to call it a cookie....I'm being assimulated
A/c not present tho fans are decent - still not enough on a hot day and the brownie was better and mebbe the flat white. Easiest probably to walk across the road to it than try and deal with the off camber bits to park then u turn to get home.

Our intrepid world travellers from Wales saw some whales ( could not resist ) and many fish on the Great Barrier Reef.

Mix of sun and cloud for the next few days....got a couple bites on selling my newer helmet and I'm enamoured of the sound with the C3 ..no nibbles on the jacket as yet ....it certainly does not owe me anything.

We're an Alexa household and could not resist an Echo Show 10" for $25
Screen Shot 2026-11-01 at Nov, 1 2026 12.41.32 PM.jpg
The second-generation Echo Show improves on the original in every way. It looks better, sounds better, and does much more, all for the same price. The first Echo Show underwhelmed us with its unremarkable audio quality and its relatively small, dull screen. This version can fill a room with sound, looks remarkably bright and crisp despite its 720p resolution, and incorporates a web browser and several other new features that make it far more usable. It's a good-looking, impressive-sounding speaker to keep on your kitchen counter, desk, or bedside table, and it earns our Editors' Choice.

Quite impressed with the 2nd gen 10" Echo Show ...sound is very very good.

I may have overdone my choices in the bedroom ....three different Amazon Alexa speakers each responding to a different prompt word and the Yamaha 1090 Sound Bar :sneaky:

it's getting too hot too early ...33 real this aft. Ugh 🥵
