Riding Down Under - Tropical Cairns Australia

Damn she sounds like Noraly

Marc not having a good day

My riding buddy going out on the round Australia month long loop ( or longer ) delayed and changed his ferry listing at my suggestion. He was just too stressed rushing and leaving at 2 pm on a 32C day not a good idea.
So changing the ferry booking to the next morning cost nothing and he's much more relaxed.
He's supposed to leave his place at 5 am ( 🙄 ) and arrive to me 20 min later.
We shall see. I'll try out the new helmet and travel south with him along the coast before it gets too hot ....maybe as far as Etty Bay where I can check out the cassowaries.🍿

Joe Ryan travels very light with no support. I like his laid back vlogs and he is a very good pro photographer.
Aug 9, 2024
I go over the gear I took to New Zealand on a motorbike camping adventure for 25 days, this time having to strip back to the bare minimum to get under the 23kg (50lb) for the checked bag on the plane. It includes, the camping gear, bike gear, tools, clothing and camera gear.
........

not a promising start to Wordle but turned out okay.

Buddy decided to take the bike as is. He's about a 4 hour ride south on Magnetic Island and sweltering but it's a great place to be. Excellent snorkelling and places to explore. Koalas in the trees.

29 C at midnight ....ugh hard to sleep - may watch more Designated Survivor
Buddy must be roasting in his tent 🥵

Too warm to sleep in the bedroom but very nice on the deck at 23.6C
Had the rest of the pasta while watching Noraly happily get her lost docs back and have a mini-adventure.
Our heatwave continues for a few more days with over 30C at 9 am - no rain forecast tho.
Spoiler alert!

Buddy had a hot night helped by battery fan and wet t-shirt.
Sent him this for inspiration
I think basically same system Noraly uses.

30 years too late but they are here.

This is the kind of video I hope buddy can achieve...I quite enjoy Joe Ryan on a hot extreme heat wave day.

I snarked at him and asked if all of that was coming

Discretion the better part of valour.....buddy is heading back to Cairns...mebbe. Deciding tomorrow morning but I would guess thats the better approach. I still can't edit this on Brave but can on Orion.🤷‍♂️
Cleared site data and it has resolved

Marc shifting gears to a KTM390, travelling with Candi who I quite like and daily vLogs...that's a challenge. 🍿

Interesting to read the dialogue from Noraly 3 years back.

Already warm at 6 am 23 feels like 28 and very muggy. Lots of people out in the only cool part of daylight.
Runners and walkers, did not see any bicylists.
Walked to Brumbys which opens at 5.30 am. Scored a small thin sliced seed loaf for $3
1764101670677.png1764101804167.png
Thin sliced will do well in the microwave sandwich maker. Toasted cheese coming up and might even try a burger for lunch with the cheap mince I picked up for protein instead of the steak....easier on my teeth...or lack thereof.

Caved into morning munchies and bought a tasty but too expensive blueberry danish

and ate half on the way home. Not very good use of funds. Found out they have cinnamon rolls but not until 7am ...have noted that. :D

Ugh

Maybe Noraly will inspire him. She appears to be thriving (y)

I briefly considered a KTM390 last year. Strange to see Marc using gas.

A little magic in the morning sun by my desk :giggle:

The matched ammonites are millions of year old and have opal threads in them.
The main glass is from One of a Kind art show and its mate is in the Corning Glass museum.
Bit of a yuppie expenditure way back when I always spent $2k a year on art.
Lot of pleasure from it tho.

Still too warm at midnight - leaving a/c on
T-storms circling but no rain. Cooler tho. A pleasant 26

hmmm . stumbled into was looking it up to be a valid word and it was....todays answer....did a double take and then sent it :sneaky:

Noraly enamoured with the industrious subsistance farmers in the remote Pamir Valley...I can see why. (y)

and completely at the other end of the spectrum Marc and Candi in Indian insanity
Impressed with the KTM390s so far.

25c here....nice sleeping weather once I beat this nasssssty.

Got $140 for the $50 "as new" full face so $165 for this flip up works money wise for me....my Schubert is just getting old like me. Aussie designed.
Eyes are tired from too much reading ( got a Hugo winner I'm deep into.)

Enjoy one of our $10 Meals All Day Monday to Friday. Current Specials are:
Fish n Chips
Chicken Schnitzel with fries & salad
Angus Rump Steak with fries, salad & house jus
Garden Salad with mixed greens, garden vegetables & tangy vinaigrette

Lovely 26C tropical night...little humidity
aw had a choice for an eagle ...missed..start word paid

Lunch with buddy at P J Irish Pub . What a deal!!
$10 any weekday - medium rare, chips the way I like, generous gravy and nice salad

Well I tried to game the Ozempic dose to 0.25mg but ended right back with intense food cravings. I increased the dose just now to about 0.5 - half of prescribed to see if that will knock down the cravings. Lucky it's too hot to ride to get a kg of wings that I REALLY want.
Summer peas and mac n cheese in a packet filling the void.
Last week on the new full 1.0mg dose I could simply not finish food at all. Somewhere in between is the correct spot.

Bachelorhood for a few days.

It's hot but dry...fans do a fine job and enjoying motovids on the 55"
Cautionary tale I hope buddy takes in ....

Memories of the best years of my life. Single, fit, skinny would ride the RD400 to the airfield and go motorcycling in 3D.

Looked at me, figured I wasn't mom and scampered off the road.
Great memory of Vancouver Island with the kid.
