Riding Down Under - Tropical Cairns Australia

Woke Tuesday feeling fine a 6 am had brekkie and by 9am was in ambo into intensive care
Been very long time since I’ve been that sick and it hit like freight train
Walked to bedroom. Could not get warm gasping for breath teeth chattering like hypothermia
Could barely get a message to partner to fetch. She arrived from dog sitting in ten min. And ambo close behind
Finally found out have blood sepsis
Scary shite. About as miserable as I’ve ever been
Still not out of it but out of intensive care and into regular care. Goes in and out of feeling okay then miserable

Scary stuff. Get well soon.

Much more better after undisturbed sleep in a position I like
They let me sleep till nine🎉 bp coming near normal. Hb rock steady 02 reasonable still boosted
Breathing much better. Energy levels could be better

Nother decent sleep tho
Risotto for supper did not feed 🐅 but tasted grrrrreat as Tony used to say
Everything improves cept digestion. Antibiotics to blame

So pathetic. Nurse and I were laughing she’d never seen so many leads so took a pic

Wordle in three 🎉 happy with that given limitations of health and using phone

Health improving. Bug identified and being eradicated with prejudice
Leaves me feeling bit ordinary
They have a lovely balcony on second floor overlooking esplanade and ocean. Had lunch and supper there

Good timing for my spiffy new gloves 1749017170097.png

Feel Good movie tonight and now wrapped in an Itchy Boots hoodie for sleep.

...........
Back to bed despite sunshine ....want to get toastie warm and I a feel a bit of sugar sleepiness after brekkie. I have no glutide in me so likely feeling sugar swings especially given tuna/pasta feed plus Anzac bickie.
Will let nature take its sleep course since temps are so low in the mid 20s all day for riding.
Looking forward to Bowls tonight.

Decided against a ride today as head cold seems not to want to leave and we will be going to Bowls tonight which at least gets me out of the house.
I'm not approved to take my decongestant yet which may change things tomorrow. Sure would have helped today.

Nice pig out at Bowls was looking forward to this all week in hosp

Got my what's allowed what's not for drugs today plus appointment for annual driving assessment by doc. Not expecting an issue.
Lost one of my drugs for comfortable riding - Celebrex off the plate for now until heart sorted :(.
Pseudoephredine given go ahead and that's a real plus. Fighting allergies without it is hopeless.
Not used to my heart beat being so low into the 50s but told that is "okay" by those that know about beta blockers. Certainly it is rock steady on the watch unlike before which had it wandering around.
To my untrained eye on the ECG the watch generates, certainly looks far more regular so I guess the drugs are doing their thing.
Consensus is keeping the blood pressure and water retention drug in place for the moment.
I've NEVER had a blood pressure issue and to learn I almost died from low pressure was/is disturbing. Part of the septic shock apparently.
Trying for coffee with former riding partner tomorrow, Weather is very good.

Movie time 🎥

Watching Bono weave magic.
••••••
Might have run across a ride - soonish is not tomorrow.

My glutide is wearing off. ..having cravings. Bread and butter at the moment- tomorrow a crusty bread version with mustard and ham.
That was one aspect of using glutide....no cravings. Australians don't do mustard much. :(

Hmmmmm midnight snack after tricky Wordle ?,,,,maybe better just starting the glutide again. :sneaky:
OR
since a ride is very much on the agenda circa brunch time ....enjoy the renewed apetite for a few more hours
Pretty fine forecast -

Had I thought about it a bit more putting some thin swiss on the baked beans better than the parmisan

Didn't think get this in 3 after a slow start
Then the light bulb went off.

Got my glutide back in me so cruising foodie sites and frig raiding shut down :sneaky:
tho I am enjoying an after supper small bowl of premium ice cream.

I had been using the mini drum sticks but too much packaging.
The packaging on the little tub of premium ice cream is fully biodegradable and I get 5-6 nice sized small bowls worth out of a tub plus it's just flat out better.
Very indulgent after fake chicken and rice curry for supper.

Lovely weather just now - really need a ride. 🏍️

Back on the bike yay
Forgot wallet boo. Normally have a few dollars in riding pants but I switched pants.
Have annual drivers check next week. Just medical expecting no issue
Tucked the full sized catheter bag in my now wildly oversized AirGlide three riding pants. Tons of room 🥴

I was given some Lasek during hospital stay to reduce water retention to reduce heart stress and when I left hospital I was 108 kg that the hospital showed and I also weighted myself - higher than the 106/107 that I'd come down to.

Given still have a catheter in place I kept telling partner my pee was much colour lighter than normal and I'm filling the bag quicker......all consistent with losing more water.
Well **** weighed my self today and down 103kg ....has to be all water loss. 5 kg in a week is a lot.....never been that low for decades....may 100 is now in reach.

Was nice to get out on the bike today even tho I forgot my wallet - had a protein bar to munch and a Pepsi Max with me. Glad I had my old riding pants which zip up full length so I can tuck in my catheter bag without switching to the smaller one.....far more convenient and I will ride more as a result. Since I'm down 60lb+ from when I first wore the AirGlide 3 pants there is LOADS of room for the catheter bag and braces keep them up.
The velcro at the bottom of the pants keeps the catheter bag in place without issue.
In addition the padded shorts I ride with are velcro front so easy to put the tube in a secure spot.....was happy with that.
