LoL^^^^

A way too tight chain i believe is far more likely to break your transmission then anything else, these are things you should double check when you or someone else installs the wheel. It's very easy to miss a worn out bearing, to check you have to actually put your finger on it and make sure it turns freely, nothing to stop you from skipping that step altho you'd think they'd check that on every wheel they pull off because it's an up sell. An oem bearing should not fail like that unless it was put under some horrific sort of id think angular load, really bizzare man. So ted didn't have any insight past it just being a bearing failure eh?

He still has the bike so full report I'll have from him tomorrow. When we installed chain and sprockets we did just that stuck finger in and checked it was fine. Rode maybe 250 km then new tires at Riderschoice they maybe 150 km then this.

It was funny I was telling Ted when tires put on an another mechanic over heard came over and completely un prompted asked "Riderschoice"? When I said yes they said they have been seeing more and more people leaving there with issues. But that's hearsay. I personally haven't had an issue with them until now.

Your 100% you know what a bad bearing feels like?

It is very possible that the bearing could have seemed fine. A part of the bearing could have failed causing the rest to break down quickly. They do move rather quickly on a sport bike.

Bearings are never predictable. I've replaced one side 2x more than another. I have also had a "bad" go real bad quickly and some bad ones sound like they were going to fail for what seemed like forever.

Mechanics do check the bearings when they have the wheel off. I seriously doubt they didnt.

rear bearings cost about 14 bucks EACH......Ive never had one last longer than 3 years......I replace every 2 years on the 1000.....

every year on the Busa....

if everyone did regular maintenance on their bikes and learned to get more hands on involved in their bike....everyone would benefit...and be safer

that all goes out the window if you buy USED

when doing a tire change...at no point is the tire spun on the bearings.....its held on an axle..SUPPORTED by the bearings..but clamped to the hub
does not free spin to be able to hear of feel bearings

that video shows an unkept bike....with a bearing thats worn out.....

I'm a bit surprised that if the bearings were that close to failure that rider's choice who did the tire swap didn't inform the customer that there was indeed something that needed to be swapped. The rear wheel is off already and in order to mount the tire you pretty much have to be looking at the wheel and at the bearing while mounting the tire.

This has nothing to do with riders choice. They didn't screw up your bike, your lack of maintenance did. Judging by how the bike looks, Im not terribly surprised.

Considering your bike is that filthy, and you never noticed an excessively tight chain, it's not much of a stretch to assume that you don't maintain the thing properly. You also posted this thread to tarnish the Riders Choice name, when they quite obviously didn't cause this to happen with a simple tire change.

It's also worth noting that even though it is easy to check the condition of wheel bearings by feel when doing a tire change, in no way is it necessary to do so, nor is the shop obligated to do so.

If you feel that the shop is obligated to perform work outside of the prescribed scope ("install this tire ...") then (1) where should they stop, and (2) how much do you want to pay for doing so, and (3) in the event that they had noticed something amiss with the wheel bearing, would you be complaining that they were recommending unnecessary (in your view at the time - prior to the bearing failing) extra work and extra parts for extra money???

It's one thing to notice the condition of something that is absolutely necessary to interact with when performing a given job (e.g. changing the tire pretty much requires adjusting the chain and taking off the brake caliper), but it is not necessary to touch a wheel bearing during this job. If the bearing had fallen apart in the mechanic's hands when the axle was removed, that's quite another matter.

Given the dubious nature of what could cause the failure (i.e. natural occurence vs. a shop), I'd say that you change the name of those vids to avoid potential...issues...at the very least, black out your licence plate...

^^^And do you have a reason not to take ur bike there ?
I never had mine serviced there but I did get all my gear from them
And all I can say is they have good customer service and rly friendly

So far this year I've had 4 oil changes, rebuilt front forks, new chain and sprockets, tires, front and rear ebchh brake pads, brake fluid flush, rad flush, have new cables and steering damper haven't had time to install. It gets its maintenance I assure you. Most was done at riders choice but when I calmly called them to talk to them they were a tad rude. So I don't know what to think really

A chain that is too tight plus overloading the bike (2up) would put alot of strain on the chain, in which it could have put alot of stress of the bearing and all that coming together at once and maybe hitting a nice bump at the same time could have crushed the bearing?

Who installed the chain?

Riders choice lol I've asked Ted rose to give it a good once over to see if anything else is amiss as I ask everytime it's in the shop for anything usually cost 30 min labor

Anyone else find this hilarious????

Its funny to pay someone to do something for you that you don't have time nor interest in doing yourself? We pay taxes so our garbage is taken away right from our house, we pay gardeners and landscapers. I even use moly maid once and while because I can't be bothered to clean up after a party lol how many other businesses an you think of that are built on doing things or people that they dont know how or don't have time for or just plain don't want to do? There are many
