have tried several different earbuds for tunes while riding
the Mee M6 Pros were pretty good
decent isolation with the proper tips
loud enough to hear
but they were brutally uncomfortable on long days
and damn near removed a chuck of ear taking the helmet off last time
as I keep my phone in a front pocket, the lack of any control was a negative
Domio has been pushing their device here for a bit
recently they came out with a louder unit specifically for bikes
also have some pretty spiffy ear plugs that are supposed to work with the Domio unit
so I decided to give the system a try
comes with 2 mounting brackets that stick to the helmet
good thing there is an extra as the first attempt at mounting on top of helmet was a failure
although my Nolan doesn't look to be any rounder on top that other helmets
the radius was too sharp and the Domio device would not slide into the holder
went for LH mount after that and I guess the sides are flatter as it worked
would suggest Domio designs a bracket that can accommodate a curved surface
helmets generally tend to be curved things
device pairs to my phone without any issue, positive
has really nice, big and simple buttons that can be operated gloved, positive
sound is actually pretty nice, it does reverberate around inside the helmet, positive
the top mount would be better, sound volume is heavily biased to the left, negative
around town and up to 80 km/h the sound is plenty load enough and clear, nice
at highway speed the music is still listenable, but getting stepped on my wind noise, acceptable
this is bike dependent of course, system works much better on my Aprilia that has great aerodynamics
the old cruiser not so much, the screen on that thing is as sophisticated as a sheet of plywood
the ear plugs are of good quality and come in a neat SS capsule
they are very comfortable and I will use them on long trips
the claim of allowing music in and wind noise out is a stretch
and they don't, they can't, it's a frequency thing
so the verdict is, for ~ $200 the Domio speaker sys is worth it to me
will get much use out of it on long rides for tunes and audio books
but I still say they need to provide a better mount that allows for more curvature
the earplugs? nice quality and great little capsule
but for $30 ?....... they are a pass
