Removing scuffs from a matte black half helmet...

I'm so upset...I just picked up this my new beanie style half helmet to go with my new cruiser a couple of weeks ago...it wasn't expensive but I still take care of my stuff....well today my friend asked me 'what happened' as I was wearing the helmet....there is a huge - toonie sized - scuff on the left side. It looks like it was dropped on the ground...little white scratches...well, a scuff! I have no idea how it happened! Is it possible some debris hit me while I was riding? Well, irregardless of the mysery does anyone know how to remove this sort of scuff from a matte black finish?

Thanks.

My matte helmet looks like crap after only one season :( Oh well, still ooks good from far away lol.

I guess I'll have to live with it....I'll make up a suitable story about how it got there, and where it as a badge of honor....or I'm sure my 6 year old daughter will find a Dora or Disney sticker to cover it up with!

There's something called Rubatone, on ICON Alliance helmets. It's matte looking finish but has more like rubberized texture. It's really easy to clean it for me. Just put wet towel, etc. and leave it on the helmet to soak up dirt, bugs, etc. I then just buff very lightly using the inside of the soft helmet cloth bag it came with.

I had an ICON as my first helmet in Rubatone. Somewhat easy to clean as mentioned above but as a commuter helmet didn't take daily use very well. I personally wouldn't recommend the Rubatone/matte finish for a daily commuter helmet.

That said, from a little farther away it looked amazing with a mirrored visor. Kids and even adults would do a double take and sometimes wave. :D

Put a sticker over it.
