Removing Decals

I would like to remove some after market stickers the previous owner put on my bike. I've heard most people using a heat gun and goo gone.

My questions is: Is there an equally effective, possibly better method than a heat gun + goo gone?

Hair dryer and rubbing alcohol...

really heat is what you need to soften the adhesive then use a chemical to remove and residue.

Methyl hydrate (alcohol) available at Canadian tire works great at getting the residue off but it doesn't get you high and give you a headache like goo-gone. Wether that's a negative thing or not is totally up to you.

what surface? Plastic or metal? let it sit in the sun for an hour. should peel right off. wd 40 on a soft cloth will remove the residue then wipe clean with a wet cloth.

I used this method, it worked like a charm. Thanks!

I had a friend tell me he boiled a pot of water with a cloth in it. Take the cloth out and let it sit on the sticker or decal you want to remove. Wait a couple mins and it should lift right off. I haven't actually tried this way but he swears to me it works and he's done it to his last 4 bikes.
