Recommended camera for recording?

Anyone have any recommendations?

GoPro3 at BB and FS are both 249, the white edition.
GoPro Hero 2 at FS has a lot of good reviews and it's only 179

I don't really know of any other camera types lol, Contour is expensiiiiive but it looks the coolest.
 
The HD2 isn't all that bad, I've always had a problem with the battery, though I hear the HD3 has better power management. The choice is yours, get the latest and greatest!
 
I would get the 3. Just for the built in wifi. Yes you can get the wifi bacpac for the 2, but good luck getting it to work properly.
 
What do you want to do with it, just shoot some footage? The contour ROAM v1 when you can find them go as low as $89 online.

The contour roam which is capable of 1080p was $99 on boxing day.... Was too bad I bought it for over 2x the price a few months before...

Keep in mind the Hero3 White is really a Hero 1, so the Hero2 is actually the better camera/has a better sensor. For comparison purposes, the Hero3 Silver is the same sensor as the Hero2, and the Hero3 Black is the improved model.

I think you are thinking of the very first one the contour HD as the roam is still going for around $200-$250
 
I've heard some good things about the panasonic xs100, it's one of the ones I'll be looking at when it's time to buy an action cam. Canadian Tire used to sell them but they aren't showing up on their website anymore. Still listed on amazon.ca though, and looking at panasonic's website it seems they are still making them

This is all true. But don't forget that they all have built in WiFi.
