I wanted to get a rear view camera installed on my bike that would plug into a GPS. Maybe something like this.

Anyone has any experience and can recommend me a model? Any shops around GTA that might have for a good price?

Thanks a lot!
Vic.

Did not have one that plugged into gps, but the one on my old bike had a separate monitor (just needed power, camera was wireless) that I mounted to my mirror stem. Worked great :D

The Magellan Roadmate 1700 has an input port for an external camera. $100 for a refurb at Tiger Direct. http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=6809987&CatId=4076

Seven inch screen. Screen brightness could be better but it is usable as is, and can be improved with a screen shroud. Speaker volume for speech-turn-instructions is right up there. You won't want to use the included mount on a motorcycle. Instead get a RAM mounting cradle for a Blackberry Playbook and modify the cradle a bit as the Roadmate is not quite as tall as a Playbook. A bit of hassle but not too hard to do with a small strip of of sheet plastic (plexiglass or lexan will work fine), glue, and basic saw. You don't need to cut the cradle. You just need to cut a couple of small strips of plastic to fit in the cradle ends so the GPS will fit within those two strips.

you need a rearview camera on a Ninja 250?? seriously, its not a Goldwing, turn your damn head and look over. Is this what we've reduced ourselves too...

What's the point of having a rear view camera on a bike? I don't get it?

at a light you can see if someone is going to rear-end you

woah... that was intense.

that's why I check my mirrors all the time when I'm stopped

Camera wouldn't have done any better than the mirrors in that case.

In this case a rear camera would have helped, luckily the guy was caught because he was considerate enough to leave his license plate at the scene;

Wow.. that video enrages me.

Thanks a lot for all the replies. While the 7" GPS looks like a good purchase, I think it would be way too big to use it on a bike. I'm still searching for a smaller GPS that has A/V in. Something that would fit on top of my dash... like this:

Also, I was reading on the GPS A/V connections and they use different types. Here's a diagram for a 2.5 A/V input in case anyone needs.

I'll keep the thread updated with my progress.

Just go to costco and grab a normal wireless rear view cam and use that, then get a ram mount and put your GPS on your break res. :)
