Rager in Pt. Credit

I was walking along Lakeshore Road on Saturday in the midst of crazy traffic congestion and i could hear a young guy sitting on a green sport bike screaming obscenities at a SUV with a family inside, while traffic was barely moving. Everyone stopped and watched. I thought the guy was going to dismount and do something really stupid.

The kid would not let up so I assume the van may have done something like cut him off or move into his lane.

We've all experienced being made vulnerable by vehicles but in the traffic environment like that (hardly moving) , anything is possible and I would have thought that as a biker, his best decision would be to keep scanning 360 degrees constantly to anticipate things instead of venting at some schmuck in a SUV.

It just didn't make us bikers look good.

Sadly we get these people on bikes and in cars. Some people just have road rage as soon as they get on the road, or just looking for a fight.

Ah the presumption game...

so lets presume the van moved into his lane and hit him, would this justify anger?

would you keep your calm in a similar situation?

Lmfao, yes "DO IT FOR THE CHILDREN!!"

If traffic isn't moving then it doesn't take a lot of horse sense to dismount, then politely correct the driver's actions. It doesn't have to be done with obscenity, at 105dB.

There are bad seeds everywhere, sometimes you are just in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Nuff said.

Some drivers don't understand when they move over and your there they could kill you. I had a guy wave me off like I was overreacting, he came into my lane.

This was due to my general WTF look and jesture.

So like any sportbiker I smashed his mirror off :angel5:

Was this near the lighthouse? They need a left turn lane there asap!! traffic always gets destroyed there.

Like most people here, ive had people pulling into my lane even in broad daylight! I ride a bright green kawi, have a bright helmet and keep in proper blocking position. So if you cant see me right next to you and sometime way passed your driver window, then you are an idiot who almost killed someone! Many times if i dont pull out of my own lane, ill be dead on the ground just like that. So is anger justified? I think a punch in the face of someone who almost killed you is still much less than they deserve! Just because you avoided the accident by being aware does not make their fault any less. Road rage is bad but many times justified.

A Stebel air horn blast just as they are starting to merge into your lane works about 85% of the time. Even for the 15% of times it doesn't work, the cager will hesitate for a slit second before continuing his/her merge. At that point they've made a decision that you life is worse less than their convenience & you know you're dealing with a di**head.

Two wrongs don't make a right, but we are assuming a lot, (like the SUV merged into the bikers lane). It could have been innocent as he didn't signal his intent and the biker over reacted. We could come up with 1,000 scenarios doesn't make it proper for the biker to be yelling and cursing while in stopped traffic. As Rob said he could have got off the bike and accomplished the same result at the driver's window.

For those who said he "could have killed the biker" with the merge, (IF that was what actually happened), maybe if they were doing proper speeds, but really in stop and go traffic I doubt he would have, (and if the rider couldn't avoid a slow speed collision then should they really be riding)?

Just another example of why we ride like everyone is intent upon killing us then we avoid these situations. In reality if the SUV driver did merge unintentionally a blast of the horn and a WTF gesture likely would have sufficed.
