Question about windscreen bolts!

Are there different quality sets out there? I bought a smoked Zero Gravity windscreen for my Ninja 1000 and wanted black bolts because the stock ones are would stick out like a sore thumb. I told my local bike shop to order me some which they did from Parts Canada. They also told me to replace the stock jamnuts with the new ones because the Kawasaki stock ones have been known to dry out and crumble. I had to cut them out and threw them out. When I installed the windshield the new jamnuts would not bulge behind the windscreen bracket, the brass threaded piece inside would just travel up inside the rubber part to the end. Did they just sell me crap or am I doing something wrong?

BTW, when I went back to the shop they said they would order me 6 new Kawasaki jamnuts but wouldn't tell me how much they would be. The Parts Canada ones were $15.

Im surprised they told you that. I performed this exact project this afternoon. The stock Kawasaki jamnuts came out and installed in my new screen with little effort. These would be 8 years old and didnt appear dry, or worn.

Shouldn't have told them I was going to reuse the stock ones.

You shouldnt have listened to them when they told you anything was going to dry out and crumble on a 2011. :banghead:

My replacement stock jam nuts came in today. They wanted $45 for 6 of them so I bypassed the parts guy and went straight to the owner, still had all my money in my wallet.
