Question about air filter

Can somebody tell me if a 01 r6 filter would fit a 04 r6. I was looking at them and they look pretty much alike in shape and size, I need to make sure since a friend is giving me one and if it doesn't not fit there is no point for me to take it. Thanks for the help!!

If you're friend is giving you a filter, why not take it and see if it fits in your bike?

The K & N filter website lists the same part number for each bike. You should be good to go.
