problem after cutting my throttle tube

my throttle tube was 1/8" too long, so i just used the dremmel to shave it off while it was on the handle bar.

now the throttle is slow to snap back,

any ideas?

Did you cut it while it was on the bike? Make sure the bar and inside the throttle tube are flawlessly clean and lube them both (I use teflon chain lube, some people use sport grease, etc.).

Also, if lots of KM's on your bike, it's good to get the throttle cables lubed too, makes a big difference.

yes i used the dremmel while it was on the bike, u suppose little plastic bits got in there?
100% absolutely. You need to take it all apart and clean it 100% flawless.

damit thats what i didnt want to hear lol
It's good to clean out the old lube/gunk and get some fresh ish in there anyway :)

i am gently lifting the throttle tube and blowing some canned pressures air in there and it seems to be getting much better

however i will take it off and clean it when i have some time this week
A non-returning motorcycle throttle can be a very unsafe condition. Use extreme caution if you're planning on riding it before you clean it properly.

you know what i just compared it to my other bike and its not as snappy so for sure i will clean it before next ride

also i noticed on the throttle tube there is a 1 inch hair line crack from the tip running in. is that an issue?

when take it iff can clean it with brake cleaner?
NO. Never use brake cleaner on plastic, ever.

Just wipe it down, pushed some balled up paper towel through the throttle tube, wipe off the bar. Spray some lube (NOT WD-40) on both and re-assemble.

why whats the deal with brake cleaner and plastic?
Brake cleaner is for metal brakes :) It can melt and deform plastic.

After reading many of Jamie's posts I don't get why so many members talk shmack and give him no respect.Yes he is enthusiastic and is quite pumped about riding just like most of us are.He offers his advice and help freely to all the newer riders and has much to offer this forum.I do not know him personally and have never ridden with him but dude you are alright in my books
