Strange. Thought I read recently the Victory was stealing much of HD market share.
Shame.

I've been scouting a touring machine with my lady. Pointed out the Vision and she dismissed it right away.

Personally, I think they offer some nice alternatives to HD.

With Victory, Indian, it made HD a better brand too.

Sad to see them go.

Hopefully my post isn't misleading. It's only Victory.

Indian lives on!!!

Never understood the appeal of Victory personally, but it's still a shocker. I know several happy owners.

I did not read the piece in depth but my supposition for this post's purpose is that Indian is quite enough, thank you very much, to take on the juggernaut that is the HD industrial complex lifestyle body mutilation trifecta that's engulfed the full spectrum of american society since the invention of the pill. That SWJ's haven't righted the wrong that is the Indian name indicates an untapped customer base. Who's gonna quibble with Victory? Ok, V looks like a crotch but that's a bit of a stretch. Well done Polaris!

Consider Indian DOA in 2017 as well. nobody is gonna buy Indian with confidence now that they have seen Polaris can just pull it overnight.

GL to all the dealers affected.

Both Indian and Victory failed to match harley on the media/culture level. Building a good bike isn't enough it seems.

Indian shutting down or going bankrupt is part of the brand at this point. I think owners expect it.

Based on the number of folks sitting on and smiling at the Indian display, I'd say they will move a lot of high priced Iron.

And some are priced right in line with HD.

Springfield vs RoadKing for comparison are very much the same.

There's the not inconsequential issue of Indian being an outright better motorcycle than HD. Normally you'd think that wouldn't matter but anybody who's watched the latest USA election cycle couldn't help but notice a real awakening happening down under. This can't help but manifest itself in rubber and steal at some point in the future. I think Polaris is betting wisely. There's still a lot of skin to be inked.

Indian products are good enough and the name storied enough for them to rise from any future Polaris-dump ashes under new ownership.

Someone would buy them.

That is a real shame. I really like the looks of the Victory. I certainly would not buy Indian now not knowing how long till it gets pulled as well.

damn shame, if indian goes, im never buying an american bike

To me, it looks like they are just shutting down the Polaris brand name and keeping Indian, which appears to be a higher-priced line.

makes sense seeing as every year people get richer and richer and are looking for expensive toys to buy

. I see what you did thar.

Seems weird for a company like Polaris to hold Indian as its one and only motorcycle brand, alongside sleds and ATVs and stuff. Way off brand. I bet they get rid of Indian as well.
