Pirelli Scorpion Trail tire question

Oddly Pete's Superbikes couldn't give me any info on this

I'm looking for tires for my Tiger 1050 and the Pirelli's look interesting. I'm trying to find out if all their 180/17 size (120/17 front) Scorpion Trail are dual compound or single compound tires. The smaller sizes are single compound, and the 190 size which is the Ducati Multistrada OEM replacement is dual compound I believe.

A web search pulls up that the 180 is the new OEM tire for a Honda bike that's just come out and that this is dual compound, but again it's difficult to find out if that's a special tire for Honda or not.

Just posting this on the offchance that someone has an answer.

I have them as OEM tires on my Multistrada which, as you say are dual compound. I've ridden them pretty hard on the street in the dry and rain as well as some light off road (gravel). I personally don't like them and feel that they're a compromise on the street and that's what I ride 98% of the time. I've had a couple of sets of PR3s on a previous bike and that's what I'll be going to once the Scorpions are worn out. I find the PR3s are better in the rain and in the dry and they're not much worse on the gravel. What type of riding do you plan to do with your Tiger?

Thanks for the reply....

Mostly street....however, once in a while there's some great hard packed trails here to follow, I've been on those on a reasonably worn street tire without any problems before though but not at any great speed. I might just go with the PR3s then as I'm getting mixed reviews on the Scorpion Trails.

After getting dizzy reading reviews I opted to go for the PR3's. Just ordered them from Pete's.

Seems like the sipes are deep enough to give a little stability on gravel roads too so I'm sure they'll be fine.

Good choice. I think you'll really enjoy them and they'll last longer than the Scorpions. I can't wait to get them on the Multistrada as I've read that they really improve an already great handling bike. Pete's is great too.
