Peak Powersports Barrie is closed as of today

I saw this yesterday, the "effective immediately" was a little surprising.
Sad news for their customer base and employees.

Wow...... so at least three very recently in southern Ontario.
Two Wheels
Peak London and Barrie.

Looks like all that Covid sales money is running out.
Add Dual Sport Plus to that in Brantford.

People keep nickel and diming dealers, trying to save the last $10, $20 bucks. There's this delusion that margins are like 30 or 40% when they're closer to 10 and 12%.

When you factor in wages and overheads most shops are making less than 5% profit at the end of the year. Soon there'll be no shops left anywhere because what's the point?

Powersports is a hard place to make money.

Had new tires installed at Peak in Barrie last month. Price was really high, I thought. Didn't care as I wanted them to remain, being close to Alliston. Now the closest is in Vaughn.

Nothing in Newmarket?

Serpa is still around in Aurora. I've never been there. Rebranding Suzuki of Newmarket to Serpa to hide the stink of the past did not give me a good feeling.
I think thats the one I was thinking of and I do recall reading some shady stories about them.

I went to Serpa in Nov or Dec of 2021 to try to put a deposit down on a new 2022 gsx-s1000GT. The salesman didn't know the bike existed, he had to look it up on the internet and was surprised when he discovered what it was. How does a salesman not know his own brand's products? I also went to St Onge to try to put a deposit on the same bike, and they didn't let me (I forget the reason why, I think the salesman said they wouldn't be able to get any). Ended up having to go all the way down to Vos Motors where the salesman at least knew what the bike was and let me put a deposit down. It shouldn't be this hard to give someone my money.

Same experience with many other sales people, was trying to buy a tracer 9 at snow city recently (before I bought the Kawi), the owner seemed cool, but the sales manager couldnt be bothered at all 🤷‍♂️
