Passenger handles

Has anyone used passenger handles on a sport bike? Either the belt or the type that bolts to the tank? Did they help at all. I'm primarily intersted in passenger comfort and taking weight off of me for longer rides. My gf is a great passenger and I typically don't have any complaints but on longer rides when she gets a bit tired she starts to lean on me a little bit which then just puts more strain on my legs and wrists.

I've got a strap I wear around my chest that has a couple handles on it.. Mainly for when my kid rides with me.. Works good.. Got it from royal for 30 bucks.

Works with the wife on the back too.

Try gripping the tank with your knees to take off some of the weight.

I do that. The problem isn't that I'm not distributing my weight well, it's more that after an hour or so I can feel her getting a little bit heavier on me. If you've ever tried to tour with a backpack you know what I mean lol. If we're on a short rip than I barely feel her back there, it's the rides to the cottage or day trips that I want to make more comfotable.

Tell her to get her own bike.

Just check their website to see if your bike is covered.. These are very popular in Europe and Asia.

That might be the way to go. I was against the bolt on option before because I didn't want to have the handles on there all of the time and I didn't want to have to pull bolts every other day to put it on and take it off. But with that quick release system it might work well.

She is planning on taking the course and getting a 250 but not quite yet. I'm hoping next year is when that plan comes together. For now she's stuck being a pillion

i just let passengers grab onto the love handles, they're a generous handful.

in all seriousness though, grab some tech spec tank grips and use them to keep a more comfy position. and tell the lady to lean on the tank if she needs to.

If you're going to go ahead with it, let me know how it works out.
I've looked at these before but I never actually followed through with it.
I'm in the same situation, so any useful feedback is appreciated!!!

My girl and I were using that system until she scratched the **** out of my tank, I got a brand new OEM tank from Suzuki and some Snider's Paintguard to cover the tank from the areas that she would usually scuff with her gloves.

I've decided that this looks like the best option out of everything I've looked at so far. Seems to be the most solid grip and can be added or removed in seconds. I just placed an order and will do a write up after install and a test ride.

Interesting. The wife used to like to ride on the back of the SV but when I got the TL years ago, she HATED riding on it due to it being to leaned over. This would likely have changed that... GLAD IT WASN'T AVAILABLE THEN! :)

I'm no fan of two-upping on a bike. It was a good thing the wife didn't like riding on the back as the Yosh hi-mounts did away with the passenger pegs on the TL. Now that I have (presumably) a more comfortable bike for two-up riding in the SuperDuke, I've also removed the pegs from it.

That said, that looks like a fantastic option for those that do two-up riding; a win-win for both passenger and rider.

Sounds good, I look forward to reading your review!

Cool.. I can't wait to see your write up either.

My cousin put that on his gsx 600 this year. He says its amazing and more comfortable for her. He did say that it doesnt even feel like she is there sometimes.

I would think the tank handles would put more weight on the rider unless you have a tall gf with long arms. Aren't those more suited for a spirited riding position where you'd both be leaned forward?

Riding a sportbike with a passenger is uncomfortable if they're over 110 lbs, there's no real way around that. Just tell her to not lean on you and do more to brace herself with her knees on you, and 1 hand on the tank under braking.

Depends on how 'skilled' the passenger is.
My girl weighs about 130-140 lbs and she's very attentive to her surroundings when she's 2 upping.
She tries not to put any weight on me and puts her hand on the tank when I'm braking, however on longer rides it becomes very uncomfortable to the point that my arms/wrists start to ache.
I also don't want her to scratch my brand new tank, so if this Vinxxgrip is as good as it seems, I'll be ordering one as well.
