Parking your bike outside at home

Hey just wondering if anyone has any solutions for this. Unfortunately getting a shed and putting in front of my house is out of the question, and my garage is filled with my other toys (a lot more expensive than my bike). I have a shed in my back yard. But it's impossible to get my bike in the back yard. That being said I have a good cover, one that is meant for the bike I ride. But, Other than building a third garage. What do you guys do that are forced to park outside at home?

security isn't an issue to me as my house has video surveillance 360 degrees around my house.

Get a storage locker. Or put a cover on it. You sure it cant fit in the garage? You can squeeze a bike into pretty small spaces.

This. I have a 2 car garage so i don't have to worry about it but if not i would be renting a storage unit to keep my bike inside. I hate when i see bikes outside under tarps.

360 video coverage won't help when the bike is stolen at 3am by a van with stolen license plates.

Best option if the bike has to be outside is for it to be something worthless to thieves.

Covers will flap in the wind and do paint damage in the long term, and wind can catch them and tip the bike over. Rubber in tires doesn't like being frozen in winter, either.

If ya had to....

I'd make sure cover is lined so it wouldn't ding paint as suggested above. If it isn't use old sheets as a buffer, toss em through washer as needed. Double fitted sheets go on sale ALL the time!

Plus - Park it where it's hard to steal

in the winter ill store it at a family members house in a garage, right now its sitting outside and will be until i store it for winter again.. got a cover for the rain and thats all it needs

Get full theft coverage and stop worrying, lol. I've been leaving my bike outside in the front for a couple years and it's been fine. It's usually a common target make/model for thieves, too.

Well, at least you didn't ask what kind of bike to buy, only how to park one.

What kind of oil makes it least likely to be stolen while parked outside, however?

If security is the issue, move. Lol. I live in a small town, my bike sits out front in my driveway under a cover all season. Backyard in the shed in winter. This has been going on for years.
If I ever owned say a Ducati, my luck might change. Then again, something would have to change for me to own a Duc anyway.

I don't have a garage or shed and can't get the bike inside my house. But I do have a 5' wide roof overhang just outside my front door. It would be big enough to count as a carport for the bike, except that it is too high off of the driveway. Bought a decent cover and a trickle charger for the winter and out there it sits year round. I usually don't bother with the cover during riding season at all. But then, I've never worried what it looks like. It gets washed twice a year whether it needs it or not. Never had anyone but the occasional squirrel bother it. In the fall, I have to inspect for stored chestnuts in the nooks and crannies. Oh, I forgot to add that this the 4th bike in 10years to be left outside. :-)
