Parking on sidewalks!?!?!? Wtf

Any reason why this driver in driving in a BUS LANE anyways? On top of that, they can't seem to stay in their lane.

after 7 pm, you can ride/drive in bus lane

but many cab drivers and motorcycle riders do it anyways (i do it all the time)

it's funny to see that most of the sheep in Montreal almost abide by the rules of the road (not turning on red light, staying out of bus lane.. that's all I can think of), yet so stupid with their driving habits.

I consider it a VIP lane. It's really neat to see jam packed rush hour traffic and the bus lane almost empty minus a few smart drivers/riders who take advantage of the bus lane in a incognito way.

I asked a parking enforcement officer if it was ok I parked my scooter on the sidewalk. He said sure mopeds can park on the sidewalk. Guess they think scooters are mopeds lol. But a motorcycle is not a moped I think.

Just check out his other video posts to understand who you're talking to. The guy posts a video complaining of someone (not even remotely) cutting him off on the road, then next video of him doing the wheelie on the public road. Hypocricy at its best.
 
I park on the sidewalk outside my friends condo all the time. It's inconspicuously placed between two large planters. It's not in the way of pedestrian traffic. I just feel it's safer there than on the street where a careless person parking could knock it over. If you park your car for 10 minutes without paying, you'll come back to a ticket. Iv'e never had a ticket for parking on the sidewalk. I think the parking enforcement uses their own discretion. If it's parked out of the way and isn't an obstacle for pedestrians.

Only sucks if you don't know how to drive manual.... those of us that do find it EASIER to go from first (or second) to reverse quickly and smoothly. I've also had to "rock" a vehicle to get it out of snow and the 5-speeds were FAR easier than automatics.

This. It's more of an enforcement issue than anything else. The "hornets" often don't know the difference between a moped and a scooter, and who could blame them? After all, it's not like the whole white vs green plate thing gives it away...

They may not ticket scooters because they have difficulty telling an eBike from a scooter (any moron should be able to tell the difference), but it is neither legal to park a scooter, nor a motorcycle, on the sidewalk.

For those of u that it "bugs" to see a bike parked on a sidewalk u really need to get a hobby or something. If it not blocking the way or empeading the walkway for pedestrians then wtf is the big deal

That's the sort of behaviour that will eventually get the free on-street parking pulled.
 
i actually parked once in dt on sidewalk (of course not blocking the way). It's Dundas/St.Patrick St (near Baskin and Robbins). I was sitting beside my bike eating ice cream, a cop drove by but didn't say anything. One of the division is right there too. Probably he just finished his shift and wanted to go home.

Cops don't issue parking tickets (from what I know.) Parking enforcement does!
 
My understanding is 50cc and under is legal to park on the sidewalk... You see them all the time lining king st in the financial district.

I'd even go as far as saying that as long as your scooter doesn't show its engine size (eg/ vino 125 decal), that cops will most likely leave you alone.
 
I'm kinda "meh" on this ... I do park on sidewalks sometimes, but it's a judgement thing - am I impeding pedestrians in any way by parking here? I guess I'm mostly doing it on private property as well, which isn't exactly the same as parking on a busy city sidewalk. Ontario laws generally don't trust the judgement of the common person, so it pretty much HAS to be illegal.

If it's a motor vehicle, then it isn't legal to park it on the sidewalk or on the "boulevard." Engine size is immaterial. Generally speaking it'll be scooter riders, who you'll hear spouting that nonsense.

I'm pretty sure e-bikes say e-bike on it and the owner probably wouldn't go through the trouble of taking the sticker off.

eBikes have peddles and no exhaust. Owners frequently remove the peddles, because they're embarrassed by them, which makes them no longer eBikes by the legal definition.
