Parking etiquette....

Okay, here's my question. What are the rules for parking a bike. Obviously parking spots. When is it okay to park up by stores, up on the curb etc....

I park on curb whenever I can. Not leaving it in a parking lot

Its not legal to put your motorcycle on the curb by a store. Park it at the edge of a space so it is visible to other drivers.

As long as you are not blocking an entrance or something else it usually is no issue.

Technically you can't park anywhere other than where the cars park unless there is marked motorcycle parking. That said, as long as you're considerate, it's generally fine, especially for short stops. I do it at places like Walmart, Shoppers, Futureshop, etc as I'm not brave enough to ride on a city sidewalk but people must do that, too, because I see bikes parked in front of businesses on busy streets (like Eglinton) all the time in places that would require a decent ride down the sidewalk.

As more people get scooters and motorcycles I think you'll see more random parking. People come from and have visited Europe so have this idea that its ok to lane split and park on the sidewalk with a scooter.. you know.. just like they did when they went to Mexico/cuba/caribbean

Hasn't parking enforcement said they don't enforce on scooters? Or did that change recently? I see scooters parked on sidewalks everywhere.

I got a parking ticket yesterday on Dundas W for parking in a 1hr max area for 75mins. I was on the end of all the parking spaces(by the parking post/sign) so I was in no way taking up any parking spaces. Should a 1hr max zone apply to motorcycles when they are not taking up any space? Is it worth trying to fight the $40 ticket?

I don't really see what there is to fight. You could've gotten a ticket for not being in a designated spot, but instead got one for parking too long. I'd just suck it up and pay it personally.

Changed last riding season where they ticketed heavily.

Only e-bikes and scooters <50cc are allowed on sidewalks.

My suggestions is to exercise some judgement and park wherever you want. If you have doubts as to whether it's considerate to park in a particular area then go park in a designated spot or accept the risk of receiving a complaint or a ticket. Generally, if it's well out of the way of foot traffic I don't see a problem.
