IQ works as a percentile. It is possible we've gotten more stupid over the years (I'm dead serious lol)

I can accept that.

I have not known prosecutors to agree to proceed on a charge where insufficient evidence exists. I can't speak for the officer as I don't know what he saw. I don't know that intersection that you describe. Also, as you have alluded to in your story, you weren't there to see it either. I'm not calling you a liar, nor defending the officer, just recommending a grain of salt when it comes to story telling.

As others have pointed out, the issue with the HTA172 isn't the charge itself, it's the fact that it carries a mandatory 7 day license suspension and impound of the vehicle. If the charge is dropped, so what? Who's paying for the loss of x income due to no license, impound fee, and anxiety/stress induced from the ******** encounter.

The very fact that ppl have been charged HTA172 for lane splitting, "weaving" (I'm entitled to my own lane right? So why the **** can't I wobble around in it as long as I don't cross the lines). I'm normally a level person but these stories and experiences make my blood boil.

I am with you. What do we get if we are accused, judged and jury by a Police Officer. We are up ***** Creek. With absolutely no comeback. Ok I know what some are saying then don`t speed or give them a reason to stop you. If they want a reason and having a bad day. So sad too bad they say. This law is disgusting.

My point being ... it doesn't take much to tip the decision scale on run vs. not. Either way you look at it.. he eff'd if he pulled over.. so may as well go for the jugular and try to get away.. atleast there's a little light at the end of that tunnel

Sorry for the late reply....I'd actually disagree; my point was that by running, getting caught takes you from strictly financial penalties in the HTA all the way up to criminal code offences. There is nothing incremental about that; a fine can easily be plead for extra time, to be lowered, and certainly does not restrict freedom like a criminal charge would. Also, compare lawyer fees between the two. No comparison at all.

Your employee must have surely invented time travel by now.

It wouldn't surprise me, but then I know him. Your chart is interesting. When exactly did these people on it take a measured modern IQ test? I'd like to see the references. Thanks!

Yeah, thanks for your opinion. Your response is precisely what I expected.

Probably only the writer and Einstein took an actual test, the rest for sure are estimated. I had about 4 more in the 170 to 185 range that were more recent. I was wondering if you would take my post in the joking manner it was meant after I had posted it. It's too easy to get lost in translation with print.

How much money does it cost us TAXPAYERS for these 2 helicopters and the people power?
How effective is this for what we spend?

Did we solve the drugs, guns, and gang problems already?

So much wasted anger here. The law is not gonna change. There are ways to have fun on Ontario roads and not fall into the HTA 172 trap. It just takes some *creative thinking*. It's actually quite easy! I'm sure you all have your thoughts on this, but don't share them on here (for obvious reasons). Perhaps a private thread is needed.

Highway is a perfect trap for speeding, I can't add anything more, very amateur.

Then how come I didn't receive a single ticket until I bought a crotch rocket and how come 5/6 were dropped when I showed the Crown video evidence and had witness statements? The latest one was dropped almost immediately at trial and the JP gave the crown plenty of sass.

And for the record, I think 99% of the time Shaman is off base and a little extremist with the cop bashing. I just hate that "traffic cops" exist.

You think wrong. Funny thing, after I posted that up and was at my gig downtown at the Portsmouth Tavern, I was sitting at a table with two paramedics. They were there because they'd been invited to a party to which they didn't wish to attend, as it was mostly police (they work with them frequently, including some training). To quote the female medic: "the cops are one short step away from criminals and when they get drinking, I don't want to be anywhere near them," and started to tell me about how she'd been groped and propositioned by married cops who don't even care that her boyfriend was in the room with them, because "what's he going to do" when he's in a room full of aggressive dickheads with do-whatever-I-want badges? Oh, and then she told me that they'll "all drive home drunk like they always do." He agreed with everything she said and his only stated opinion was "it's a sh|t show every time."

Yeah, you're 99% out of your mind if you think cops are decent people. But I'm sure you know better than the people that work with them and have spent a lot of time in their general presence, amirite?

really dude? You really have no idea how hard there jobs are, there under alot of pressure, work long hours, and have to deal with rude ******** all day.
and really, we as "sportbike" riders do have a cocky attitude when it comes to the police, which makes it worse for them .
and man, you say cops are not decent people ? here is one for you...
my friend next door was leaving for work, his 3 year old girl managed to open the side gate, within a few seconds, she fell under the van and was run over while he was backing up.
both him and his wife were screaming so loud for help, they called 911 and were waiting for help, a man came running down the block and said he was an officer, he gave her cpr and got her breathing again, shortly after the medics arrived, and she was airlifted to Hamilton, she was on life support for a week and ended up living. today you would never no it happened.
all cops are not ********, this one, was the ONLY reason his little girl is still here today with us. maybe we all need to show a little more respect to them, and the same would be returned.

Yeah, really. Does any of that excuse their actions in either personal or professional life? Are you going to tell me that you want law enforcement officers just doing whatever they want, living large and bullying the public? Are you that mental? They're to ENFORCE the law, not BECOME the law.

and man, you say cops are not decent people ? here is one for you...

I don't say it. I know it. There may be a few decent ones around and every now and then even the really bad ones will do something decent. I'm not arguing that we don't need law enforcement officers, I'm arguing that the ones we have are really poor, really corrupt and really bad individuals on the whole. You may think that's my opinion... it's my OBSERVATION after working with them closely over the years and also knowing quite a number of people who also have, one of whom dealt with HR in the forces for years.

The world is full of stories like that. It just so happened that the off-duty (I assume) cop was nearby and had training to help. Does this mean cops are awesome? No, it means that he used his training to good effect as he happened to be nearby. You know what? All of my staff have WSIB training which includes CPR. I have CPR training. My *secretaries* have CPR training. Dogs with NO training rescue their owners. You mean to tell me that you think only a cop could have saved her?
