Where did you see the fine was only $1000? For my friend it was $1200 impound fee and $5000 set fine. Add onto that the fee for his lawyer and I could easily see $20k.

Jeez. You're right. I forgot about 172. I was remembering what it used to be. The fine for doing 200 in a 100 zone was 1k.

I know someone who got nicked at 155. All in, between fines, lawyers and insurance, 20 grand, and it was very difficult to find insurance.

I dunno wtf you guys are talking about. I got booked at exactly 155 too, after everything including the paralegal and getting it dropped to 49 over is cost me about 2500 bucks. I probably could have represented myself and gotten the same results but it was up in Bracebridge and I didn't want to go all the way up there.
