Looks pretty good for middle of next week for the Front Royal area - might be some scattered showers to run through to get there. Be nice if the Madstad brackets arrived for the CBF1000

Take a colour run down the Skyline Drive. 700 km to get there. 4 days should be nice given short riding hours these days. Do like the day time temps
 
I cant leave till noon Thur.
Takes me about 3-4 hours to get to Front Royal from where I am.
Waiting to see what weather is like for next wkd.

My plan was to leave Thursday at noon from work and head to Winchester and spend the night there.
Then Friday do this loop and spend the night in Petersburg WV

I'm hoping to get an end of the season run in as well - I have next Monday and Tuesday booked as vacation days - but so far, haven't seen any weather forecasts that encourage me to head in that vicinity for a four day trip :-) However, the week is still young! Available accommodation might also be a concern since that is prime leaf peeping time in the southern reaches of PA and WV.

I have ridden 414 - it is scenic but not particularly twisty compared to other roads in the area. I can't remember if I've ridden 233 this area is so close to me (living in the east end of Hamilton) that I often just meander - not really taking note of the roads I'm on.
 
Me too - Winding Roads just points me to the back road twists.

Next time in the area Bear Hill Rd is worth a look. - see the post in the other thread on West Virginia for a link.
Too bad you can't get Thursday and Friday off...best days.

Lots of low cost AirBnB in the Altoona area.
 
I'm thinking of pushing my start date from Thursday at noon to Wednesday at noon.
The weather looks great for the next few days and things are pretty quiet at work.
 
I will be in Osceola Mills PA tomorrow afternoon latest

Looking okay for weather....11 degrees even early in the AM so that's encouraging.

I'm a little jealous - I did want to make another run this year. But with the uncertain weather forecast everywhere within reach for a 4 day trip - I think I'll just rollover my money into next year's vacation fund - and do another fly and rent to the southwest in February or March :-) What I would pay for motels this trip would cover a nice chunk of my bike rental for somewhere i would rather ride.
