Looking to get an older/cheaper SS (less likely to get stolen again).

Perhaps looking at a 2004-2006 year range across the SS series.

I just saw a rashed/crashed/stock/needed new tires CBR600RR '05 with 30,000KM on the dash.. and the guy wanted in the high 4's for it. What's a fair price for something like that and what should I expect to pay for what I'm looking for?

Cheers

Nowhere near $4500-$5000. Probably half that.

Look at the honda F series. Comfy but still SS. Stupid reliable vehicle. Doubt mine would get stolen in Nigeria :) Can be had for ~$1000. Beat the **** out of it.

It's pretty frustrating dealing with sellers.. what's the best way to tell them that their beat up 2001 whatever isn't worth $5000 FIRM..

Tell them if they don't like it. Leave your number and look elsewhere. Either some idiot will overpay or they will call you back with a more reasonable price.

Also I think 2004+ SS are still very likely to get stolen.

You should go late 90s or early 2000s.

Not old enough, still thief bait. A mid 90s bike should be safe and they're plenty fast.

2009 ex500
looks exactly the same as a 1989 ex500

:lmao:

1999 - 2005 Katana 750 or 600

Cheep easy to work on and plenty fast. Wont be stolen by anyone ever for any reason. Also they are very good on insurance.

and look like ****...

2003 CBR600rr is the best looking older, but still not dated looking SS.

Good luck finding a mid 90s SS bike in the GTA that isn't junk.

An SV650S is fast enough, EFI, and even ABS in later years, they sold so many, they are easy to find used and many are well kept.

I always liked the way the Katana looked in those years

They looked like a potato. I had 90s Katanas, 600, 750. They should have gone with less plastic, not more.

Try and understand insurance brackets, a GSXR750 is big $$, but the 750 Katana is still a 120hp freak with a GSXR engine and costs half in insurance.
the 90s oil-cooled ones are bullet proof.

They are a bit potatoish. But yea the 750 is a great bike and no one is going to steal it. Also there is a great support community for them.

Plus despite looking like a potato..they don't handle like one
