Old Gen Ninja 250 vs New Gen Ninja 250.

Can anyone who has driven both offer any noticeable shortcomings of the older generation Ninja 250 vs the new one? Aside from the obvious cosmetic differences.

I have read that the older 250 is actually better for highway riding dude to it's powerband being higher up, and the newer being better for city driving. Can anyone back this up?

Thanks!

The differences are going to be so small that you wont even notice it.

Old one has 16" tires so the new one's actually a bit more comfortable when it comes to potholes & all that crap. The 250s were known for having their power high up, so the new ones have it distributed a little more evenly.'

Like wheelieboy said, you won't notice too much of a difference between the 2. My acceleration doesn't really slow down until I get to 160, but that'll depend on how much you weigh.

Thanks guys. That's the other thing I forgot to ask, which you mentioned knowledge... I weigh exactly 200lbs. Not sure how well the bike will pull with that kind of weight on it.

That's the OLD old 250. The EX-250H / ZZR250 has 17" rims.

I like the older version 88-07, I found the seat more comfortable vs the newer generation. I tried both, unsure if I can really notice much performance difference.

Good catch - thanks for the correction.

I forgot to mention earlier that between the ex250 and the zzr250, pick the zzr250. Subtle differences, but they should still be noted.

I weigh 250 and the acceleration is not an issue for me until about 140 km/h. first gear screams alot for me to get off the line, still does it with some pep.. but once it drops in to second its surprisingly quick.
i ride a 2011 se

both bikes will serve you fine as long as they were maintained and are in tune.
