Offroad insurance?

Hi Guys,

My dad just bought a new dirt bike this week, and hes super excited to get out and ride it. However, he is having a hard time finding insurance. Does anyone have the name of a good broker for offroad only insurance? I told him to give my state farm broker a call, but I'm just wondering if there is anything better in the offroad world these days, as I havent had a dirt bike in almost 10 years. Thanks in advance!

I recently did this same search and after making several calls and being floored by costs to insure my 7 year old on a 50, came up with Nicole MccAnne Insurance at 866-798-9883. I spoke with Natalia.

How much do you pay for him?

OP- The OFTR site has a couple agents.

Same as for mine. The way SF does it is to insure it for me (yeah, me riding a 50 in the trails) and then add my son as a 2nd rider.

As for the agents on the OFTR site; their premier agent, the one that writes the articles for them, etc... wanted $1200 to insure my 7 year old on a 50. EMS started my heart by using an AED... twice.

Ouch. Kirk Norris quoted me 120$ for each of my kids. He told me that's his standard charge for offroad kids.

Thanks for the suggestions guys! I'll send these details to my dad later today, hopefully he can be out and riding this week, hes so excited, he woke up at 5am to go get his bike on Monday haha.

Offroad...insurance? What? Wow, today I learned dirt bikes need insurance; government really lets the insurance industry have us by the balls.

Huh? Sorry but I appreciate the fact that when some yahoo crashes into me, I won't be paying out of pocket

If you owned a trail would want to be on the hook for medical expenses?
Wouldn't OHIP cover it like most other injuries? I guess it might be different like vehicle collisions are (payed by insurance companies, as far as I am aware).

That's just it though, these are toys, not vehicles in the HTA sense.

For just home use sure. But if you are using in on a public trail or on parts of the shoulder then you need the insurance. Op also maybe taking his kids to private racing or tracks that require it incase of injury to someone else.
