From the Orangeville Banner:

"A woman in her early 50s was rushed to hospital with life-threatening injuries after the motorcycle she was riding collided with an SUV in Mono.

At about 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 10, emergency service personnel were called to respond to the serious two-vehicle crash on Mono Centre Road near Fourth Line.

The preliminary investigation by Dufferin OPP has revealed a motorcycle heading west veered slightly into the eastbound lane and side-swiped an SUV.

The driver of the motorcycle, a woman in her early 50s, was transported to Headwaters Health Care Centre before being taken to a Toronto-area trauma centre with life-threatening injuries. Dufferin OPP Const. Paul Nanckeivell reports the woman is stable but remains in serious condition.

The OPP investigation into the collision is ongoing. The cause of the crash is not yet known.
“We don’t know the cause yet, until we talk to her,” Nancekivell said. “Until she is in better medical condition, we won’t be able to interview her.

A section of Mono Centre Road was closed for several hours while OPP investigations examined evidence at the scene. The road was reopened early Thursday morning

This was the second incident involving a motorcycle on this road in a day. Around noon on Tuesday, October 9th I was out for a ride and saw a large silver sport touring bike sitting upright in the ditch at 3rd Line and Mono Centre Road, first east of Mono Centre. OPP were on scene and they were waiting for a tow. That morning the roads were very slick due to a very heavy dew that took most of the morning to dry.

Be careful out there and remember the road surface is much cooler with less traction. Also, wet leaves are very slippery.

That road is in good shape, but with fog and darkness setting in it's possible to miss the centre lines and drift I suppose. Unfortunate. Hope she gets well soon.
