New rider looking for a new bike!

Back on topic OP your experience with your 150 CVT has no bearing on the Burgman 650...period.

I'm outta here - good luck.
how so? because the burgman is heavier and larger? more power is present of course but other than that is there anything else to that bike that will really throw me off? (figuratively speaking of course)

nobody hacked your kijiji link, you posted the link that you were given to edit your listing.

I'd listen to Mac about the burgman. I've heard nothing but great things about them, and I'll definitely be trying to ride one at a demo this year (if I can get one from teh Suzuki guys as they were all fighting over it). It's not really my thing at the moment, but someday I could see myself on something like that.

I listen to everyone. :D but ya i never shot the idea down, im just saying that i want a sport/touring bike, not another scooter :P Would be nice to actually demo test the burgman because it did catch my eye but not really interested in it too much at the moment, cost being of the downsides to it :( Students now a days dont have too much money to be splurging on motorcycles :P

if you're looking for something sporty, Ninja 250/500, CBR250, Suzuki GS500. The 250s will do fine on the highway, but you will have to keep the revs up. Over long distances, they may not be as comfortable as a bigger tourer (the 08+ Ninja 250s have a seat made from the finest Japanese granite, ask me how I know) but will be more forgiving for a new rider. Gotta remember that your scooter skills aren't going to translate directly to riding a full size motorcycle, so I'd start small.

GSXR 1000.......k seriously though, you can start on anything you want. I have friends who have started on SSs and they are alive and well. Just don't be a goof. I am a goof so I bought the smallest bike I could. Now with that out of the way, the rest is up to insurance cost. Good luck picking a bike out.

LOL! ya definitely either a 250 or 500, leaning more towards the 500 tho :P ofcourse, difference being the rider to bike weight ratio and the point of the centre mass of both bikes are slightly different. But i handle my scoot pretty well, can pop wheelies on it, countersteer, etc. etc. im just bored of it :( so im looking for something with a little more kick :) Thx for the reply kamikaze

Hello this will be my first post her on GTA Motorcycle (yes i know its not the introduction thread) anyways, names Armen, and at the moment i drive a 150cc CVT belt driven performance scooter :P i love it for general city use, but i find it lacks in acceleration and its top end is a bit too slow for my taste (100km/h) so im looking to sell my bike, and get a new bike for this season. I have no issues driving on 2 wheels (turning, braking etc.) i just need to practice gear shifting :P So far im leaning toward a 1992 Kawasaki Ninja 500cc or the EX 500cc (are they the same bike, im not sure), so what late model bike would you guys recommend to an experienced rider looking for long distance riding (must be reliable). I am currently 19 years old so a bike made prior to the year of 1995 is preferred due to insurance company's raping me with monthly payments :( any input will be appreciated, thanks guys!

Armen

P.S im sure many of you guys have seen me out and about in the GTA, yes its the one that glows blue at night :P

I can sell you my ex500 if you like
check your PM

What do you guys think of a 1995 Yamaha Seca II 600cc? Its decently priced and very close for pickup. Any general problems with the bike or any parts that are discontinued? i dont want to end up with a sexy paperweight :P current owner has not skimped on the aesthetics of the bike, it looks absolutely amazing! So the price factor and year of the bike work great for me, however i will have to check with insurance to make a final decision, along with all the input i obtain from you guys :D
