New KTM 690 Duke...impressions?

Cool bike, I have always liked it a lot ... but the Canadian price (10K) for non-adjustable suspension and the fact it's a single (great around town, but not so much fun once you go a bit further with more seat time) is still a bit too much.

If that price was for the R (which is not sold here unfortunately) it would be a different ball game, but this one was always close to 11.5K back in a day when they imported R.

It's the old problem of KTM and their non-existing strategy to penetrate a North American street market ..... ask a dealer who sells KTM and Triumph for example, which company is easier to deal with for parts, bikes, support, marketing etc. ..... it's a huge difference.

Saw it at the December show and fell in love. Tho I don't want to pay 10k and then who knows how much to strip the whole thing down and get the orange frame powder coated black (orange, purple and green are the 3 most retarded colors in the world... secondary duh!). The orange requires me to ask for a big discount. I know it's pretty anal of me but there's tons of perfectly good bikes out there I'll refuse to ride because of color. I believe every model ever made should exist in black or silver for people like me that prefer color neutrality. I like the big single cylinder sound and the look of the bike. But yeah, not worth the cost. I don't see why this should cost more than an ER6N or an FZ6R. I imagine one day I'll pick one up at a decent used price. Maybe 5 or 6k with low kms would get me into it.

I like it but for what it is and the price they're asking it wouldn't be on my list if that is the type of bike I was looking for.

I agree....would be a awesome around town bike....but the price is stupid high

SMC... nuff said.

I have to agree - especially the 2007/2008 Supermoto with those upswept pipes or the later 690SMC over any Duke plus you get adjustable suspension, etc.
