Hey guys i have a 2012 r6. still stock exhaust and its just not loud enough. For personal preferences and safety i want to upgrade. I was thinking of putting a slip-on something like an M4, yoshi or 2 brothers. However Im not sure if its loud enough!

Would it be better to remove the cats and add a mid pipe like MJS or etc ??
leave cats but add the slip-on and remove the baffle?
or install a full system?? (however i don't really want to drop all that money for a full system) so I'm trying to find a cheaper alternative

If you don't want to spend big bucks, yea just get a slip on leave the baffle, at least for the first few rides it should be plenty loud.

Danger of a full system without cat is that laws may change requiring this (amazing you can even do this now), and you will need tuning.

The bike makes more than enough power, so slip on is what you want if you need to attract attention from people behind you, for some reason.

Hey argenm I have a 2012 R6 and I just put a M4 slip on exhaust, its the sound I was looking for... When I have some more cash I will get the mid pipe. Word of advice, look into the exup servo eliminator cables and how to get around throwing an engine code. I ended up getting this http://www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/bazzaz-exup-servo-eliminator-yamaha-r6-r1-fz1

There are other ways but I wanted something simple and that I knew would work as I am not the most mechanically inclined person.

Installing the slip on, removing the cables all took about 30 minutes

There's a new trend of just hacking off the baffle. Even 250s sound louder than cruisers when you do that.

Great midpipe: https://www.dan-moto.com/DM_INT/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=142_143&products_id=1067

You can get it installed by 22 customs, they usually have stock of them too.

Any slipon will attach to that midpipe.

Do NOT use it with your stock muffler or it'll sound like complete poo.

If you want really loud check out the Danmoto muffler: https://www.dan-moto.com/DM_INT/ind...ducts_id=215&zenid=lb8hdln46f5i5qta4lscp1diu0

If you want a deep throaty sound check out Akrapovic or Leo Vince.

After you ditch the cat and get a real muffler you can get your ECU flashed (instead of getting a power commander, etc.) to load in a proper fuel map (plus remove the factory throttle restrictions, etc.)
