Not to hijack this thread but Vancouver is like a mini toronto to me with worse weather. I'd rather stay here but if I was determined to move west it would be the interior of bc or alberta.

I was there for 10 days in August and fell in love with the place. Van is not a mini Toronto, IMO. If TO is 2-dimensional, Van is in 3D, literally.
I've been to 25states (all on the bike actually lol) and 4 provinces so far, and although I havent seen evetything, I would rank Vancouver into Top 3 cities of North America, after SF and Miami.

Nothing wrong with "The North Shore" aka North Vancouver. It actually nice over there. But they get more snow being at the base of the mountains and more rain.
Plus if you want to get anywhere else in "the lower mainland" there are only 2 ways by vehicle. The Lions Gate Bridge and the IronWorkers bridge but are FUBAR traffic
during rush hours. But you also closer to some nice riding roads, the "Sea to Sky" highway. A popular destination is a ride to the small town of Squamish. (approx 90km north)
And about 80km farther north from there takes you to Whistler.
Would not call Vancouver a mini Toronto. More like a mini Hong Kong. Both because of the asian population and building density. Plus its all mostly on a peninsula with water on 2 sides and a park at the end - Stanley Park, is a 1001 acre park. There is a pedal / walking path around it along the water. (The Seawall) That path is 8.8km long.

Was in VanCity, New West, North Van, Surrey and Squamish last July for a week and planning to go back again this year.
AMAZING weather, amazing people and lifestyle, great food and bars, very chill and laid back vibe, green space everywhere.
Stanley park is absolutely incredible, Shannon Falls was awesome to hike through and the view of mountains NEVER got old.
My GF and I are actually considering packing up and moving there.
...Only downside is the housing costs right in the city. Everything else was comparable (price wise) to T.O.

Another cool item and something Toronto should have by now. There is the "skytrain" (Subway) ..the "Canada Line" that connects downtown Vancouver to the
Airport in Richmond. Get off a plane at airport, jump on Canada Line and in 25 min you are downtown.

that is pretty cool and about time. but like you said co$t is crazy. $27.50 to go from airport to union! yikes. The Canada Line here is part of the "subway" system so it only costs price of bus fare. (plus an extra 5 bux airport tax if leaving from airport station) so max it would cost would be $5+$4.50 (after 6p and weekends $5 + $2.50) But that gets you anywhere a bus / Subway will go. I am guessing a TTC fare would be on top of the upexpress fare?

For Vancouver area use the "LM" tab (Lower Mainland) and for a bit farther out use "SIR" (Southern Interior Region)
i like this webcam pic. This is on Hwy 1 about 110km from Vancouver. I go past this spot regularly on my way to Hope.
Just posting to show the speed limit sign. Just outside of Abbotsford the speed limit changes from 100kph to 110kph.
The hwy from Hope to Merritt (Coquihalla - aka highway thru hell) goes from 110 to 120kph

Sounds like they improved the sky train. Was abysmal back in the late 90s.
