It's funny this thread re surfaced. I believe I found the problem, and it wasn't a dirty engine, well partly. While poking around and removing the battery and seat, I found 2 evaporator lines hand been shortened or mangled. They were shorten to the point of relasing to just under the seat, and caused myself to become contaminated with fumes. Plus my own sloppiness of not being careful when fueling and spilling. Ordered some new hoses and hopefully this problem will be solved.
BTW I never got around to cleaning the engine, too much fun riding last year. But I did pick up the cleaner from HD. Maybe this season I will get around to using it.
