Need parts for a 1975 Honda CB200t

Hey folks new here and before I start emailing all the retailers in the area I thought I'd ask if anyone knew any shops selling parts for 1975 Honda CB200t. I am looking for a Stator for my bike. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!
 
If it's just the stator you might check local alternator & starter repair shops; many have the ability to rewind stators and armatures etc.
 
A lot of the parts on the CB200t are interchangeable with the CM200t, CM250c and CMX250. They are similar engines with a few upgrades (different side covers to accomodate the CDI ignition, bigger pistons). Parts for those engine platforms are beginning to dry up as Honda is no longer supporting them. Luckily they made millions of them. Not so luckily everyone wants one.
 
Honda Restorations is showing one NOS in inventory for US $204.60 plus shipping. Honda Part #31100-354-005. It's the assembly so I believe it includes both the rotor and the stator (the stator part # is 31102-354-005).

BTW, have you checked with your local honda dealer first ? You'd be surprised the parts availability of these old hondas.

Also, not questioning your wrenching ability to diagnose the issue, but how do you know you need a new stator? I've had charging issues with old bikes and often it turns out to be a loose or bad connection in the wiring loom.

I used to own one of these bikes and sold it a few years back. Good luck in your parts search and don't hesitate to ask questions.

Thanks for the info Robbo. The gentlemen I purchased it from told me it needed it. He's my friends father so I assuming he did the diagnosis and is very knowledgeable when it comes to bikes but I completely understand what your saying. I'll find a DIY on testing the stator and other components before I make any purchases. Anyone have a link to a good write up?

Here's a link to a motorcycle electrical fault-finding chart that I have used successfully many times in the past.

You MUST start with a fully-charged battery in good working order.

You will need a decent multimeter with ohms testing and diode testing functionality. Borrow one if you don't already have one.

Also a wiring diagram and/or shop manual for the bike so you can follow the wiring connections to each component.

Pick up a can of electrical contact cleaner, some emery paper and a tube of dielectric grease from Cdn tire or your local auto parts store so that you can clean and dress all of the connections as you go through them.

Try your Honda dealer.I buy parts for my 1976 Yamaha at my local dealer all the time.

Emailed Honda they told me its discontinued and suggested I contact Pro-formance.

Thanks guys for the information. I'm trying to go local but if nothing pans out I'll probably order something from the US.
