Need new tires

HAs anyone considered buying their tire from the States? Apparently they can be ordered to CBI just across the boarder and be picked up later.
Wonder if it's cheaper!!

If your close to the border, and/or there's a killer sale on then yes deals can be had out of the States. I ordered a set of PR3 from Pete last spring and at the time he was only $40 more than ordering out of the US and he had them in stock.

Hit Pete's site and get your prices, then hit ronayers, deniskirk, SBTG, etc etc etc.

Then figure your costs to go over, the fee for your delivery location and the Taxes at the border, do the math and then decide what's better for you.

Some mechanics don't put weights on the rear wheel.

This is because the weight of the sprocket assembly and chain offsets any benefits that putting the weights on would have in the first place.

I've heard of mechanics doing both...

+1 on PR3s and Pete's. I did a lot of looking around and after the hassle, gas, and CBI costs, it just wasn't worth it to go to the states.

Have about 2000km on these tires and they barely look scrubbed in but grip really well. Rain grip is easily 80% of norm as long as you stay off the metal rails/plates/grates and the painted sections of the road (but i haven't heard of a tire that DOESN'T have that problem in the rain).

Bear with me if this is a dumb question (cuz I've never changed a motorcycle tyre by hand), but you'd think the machine would be able to balance the assembly as it goes on the bike, no (disc & sprocket attached)?
