Need help with 2006 Yamaha vmax 1200

Where's the fuel leaking from? Either way check out http://vmaxforum.net , there's a ton of information there if you want to try and find the problem yourselves.

Alright thanks. He said one carb jet is stuck in open position leading to gas overflow from pipe. Which is also flooding the carb with extra fuel. Anyone on this forum who can clean carbs. Have all tools.

Yes, it sounds like a stuck float valve. You can try to gently tap the outside of that carburetor, it might free up the valve and allow it to close.

Had the same problem with my Virago a few years back. Many parts shared between the Virago and vmax. Carb jet stuck open, over flowing carb and pissing out the side of the bike. Was well worth the money to have the carbs removed and professionally cleaned. Bike running like a champ since.

Piece of cake but don't know how accessible the carbs are on the Max.

However, the scary part of having a float stuck is whether you get either a fuel lock or more importantly, getting fuel seeping into the crank ... not good! Ask him to make sure the oil looks good, the level hasn't magically risen, or it smells a little like gas. If so, change it immediately once you get the float working correctly.

Thanks for the help guys. Seems it was a stuck float valve, he tapped it a bit and started right up.

If it happened once it'll happen again. I would still have the carbs removed and professionally cleaned. It's one thing to have this happen at home, It's a whole other story if you're away on a ride.
