On every bike I've owned, wind buffeting has been terrible for me at speeds over say 60 mph. I've worn the Shoei RF1400s and Schuberth C5s, both reputed to be very quiet. They're quieter than other helmets for me, but still very loud even with plugs at 125 km/h.
I have an FXR MX helmet that I wear when riding dirt (though it has ECE and I THINK Snell certs). In order to be prepared for an off-road trip I had planned, I wore it riding down the 400 on the weekend from the cottage up to 125 kmh. I expected that it would be super noisy given the peak, open eye port and general looser fit.
So let me say that I was absolutely floored by how quiet things were in this helmet. It was a world quieter than every road helmet I've tried. I don't know how that makes any sense.
It's so quiet that I'm thinking of wearing it in lieu of my C5 on my next long trip.
The downside is that the rain making it through the gaps between my goggles and the eye port felt like damn needles stabbing me 100 times a second.
