moving from 250 to 650?

Give you some more oomph and top end speed - can't see downsides except trail weight and some loss in fuel usage.

Insurance might be higher tho. I'd guess I'd asked the reasoning.

Then it's a no-brainer. You'll be wondering how you lived without it.

the ninja 650 looks nice, check out the en6r, i think its a little quicker and i think they look awesome.
you loose the windscreen though.

Those are both completely different styles of bikes than he is asking about...

thanks for all answers.

actually, i do wonder about switching to a ninja style bike from my DS.
But due to insurance rate issues, I can just stick with a ninja 250r.
Would I be "losing" something if i go from klx250s? What would I "gain"?
So far, i've only ever really rode my klx250s DS and nothing else.

"Should I eat an Apple or an orange?" hmmm tough comparo haha

what do you use the bike for? Do you take your klx and do all the fun stuff like riding up stairs, hoping curbs and cutting through parks to beat traffic - then you will miss it.

If you do normal driving - then the ninja 250 or cbr250 will be a solid bet.

Want an awesome mix of both?

Get a DRZ400-SM :D trust me - they are super fun bikes for short city commutes.

i never took it up stairs, etc. I got mine mainly for learning and if I drop it, it would still be fine.
people take them through parks? ..

how is the acceleration in city streets for the 250 ninja?

i've done it before - even hopping a median is no problem with a dual sport or motard. adds some spice to the daily commute :)

ninja 250 0-60 time is around 5seconds? which is to say faster than most cars.. so I think you will be okay. high revving engine though, so don't be shy to redline it to get the most power and shift high even in normal driving - 8000rpm for example, to avoid lugging it.

Sounds like a great way to lose a license or at least get some hefty tickets.

I'd love to do it but I need my license and lowish insurance.
