Motorcycle Cannonball

The Motorcycle Cannonball is a ride for pre 1930 motorcycles from New York to San Francisco over 17 days. The Saturday night stopover was in Sandusky Ohio so a buddy and I rode down from Toronto and stayed at the same motel to see the bikes and talk to the riders. The oldest bike was built in 1913, and some of them looked as if they wouldn't make it one day let alone 17. They average 300 miles per day. Some bikes were fully restored and others looked in original condition.

I have put together a brief Quicktime slide show of some of the many photos I took. Watch for the Indian that has a roll of duct tape and a pair of flip flops hanging off the back of it. For those that read American Iron, Buzz Kanter is on #15

Enjoy....

What a fantastic slideshow! A lot of those bikes have seen a lot and been around more than us have been alive.

Great post!

Thanks for sharing these great pics. It's nice to see that these machines are being ridden instead of sitting in a museum somewhere.

We were down in Wellsboro PA on the weekend as part of our 5 day ride and drove into Wellsboro and saw all these old bikes also. I was there 1st day stop and there were all amazing . We also stayed in the same hotel as most of the riders Penn- Wells hotel. Great to see all the old bikes.
