Motorcycle Alarms

Looking to switch my insurance from Statefarm to TD Insurance, but they won't cover fire/theft, unless I install an alarm.
Its for my 2009 GSX R600. What is the best alarm to buy, and where do I get it installed.
Looking for some place close to Milton/Mississauga area.
Any help woulg be appreciated.

+1 for the Scorpio SR-i900; I've had one on each of my bikes and it has saved me mostly from idiots playing with/sitting on the bike when I'm not around.

As for the Xena, I highly doubt insurance companies would consider a disc-lock system as valid. They mostly require "professionally installed" systems, meaning something that has been physically wired up inside the bike. So you're most likely looking at systems like the Scorpio, or Gorilla, which most insurance companies will be familiar with.

TD will not count Xena as alarm. I just installed Scorpio SR-i900 on my bike since TD MM would only insure the bike 1-way if you don't have an alarm. That thing is awesome, especially if you get 'extras' - ignition disable, perimeter sensor. As TekNinja said, it will mostly deter idiots from you, but will also allow you to have two-way insurance with TD. Gorilla is on their list too.

It's pretty easy to install SR-i900 yourself if you're not afraid of cutting wires (since those no-cut harnesses, which you pay extra $ for are useless, at least for CBR).

+1 SR-i900. I have one, very easy to install and I'm an idiot when it comes to DIY maintenance.

If you have the cash, however, I would pony up for the model above the SR-i900. Look into it and you'll see why, it's a tad overkill but sportbikes get stolen far too often and all bikes seemed to get backed into and smashed during the summer. The SR-i900's alert range is kinda ****** whereas the model above relies on cellular data so it's range should be FAR better.

Meh... so you'll get notified when your bike gets stolen. Won't make much of a difference unfortunately, as most know that it takes a whole lot of 30-60 seconds to dump the bike into minivan and drive away.

What do you mean by "only insure the bike 1-way"

Im with TD MM and I have theft coverage without an alarm, but Im going to get a Xena soon because it works just as well for 1/4 the price.

I want to at least know I have a slight window of oppurtunity to go out screaming I'm Batman.

My main concern, however, isn't theft. It's the bike being knocked down and the dick running away. Personal experiences and watching a few surveillance videos of these acts: the person who hits the bike usually panics for a good 3-5 minutes before stepping out of their car and picking up the bike. That's more than enough time for you to react, Superman down the stairs from your work place and get your $$$s worth.

Liability only, no theft or comprehensive. That's what I was told by them when I insured my SS bike with them 2 years ago. They had no problems insuring GS500 for everything, but for CBR they requested an alarm to be installed on the bike if I wanted comprehensive and theft.

You've got to have an alarm on their approved list. If it's not on the list, doesn't matter how good it is, you won't get coverage.

Oh ok, well yeah I dont have an SS so I guess thats why I was able to get full coverage

I put a Scorpio i900 in my gsxr750 over the weekend, took me about an hour. I highly recommend ordering an OEM wire kit.

TD considers my bike a SS and I have fire & theft on it without needing and alarm. I do have an alarm on it but the Talon systems aren't on the lists as far as I'm aware of.
