Moto GP questions

after watching the indy race today a couple of questions

1. do the racers not use mirrors? how do they protect their lanes from the riders behind them if they cant see

2. some racers straighten their leg out approaching a turn. why?

1. No mirrors. You can only see them in your peripheral as you lean in.
2. This is a recent thing..I suppose the explanation is it lowers your centre of gravity. Personally, if I tried to do that, I'd pull my ITB and would have to stand up all the way to the pits..
3. Suzuki was unable to compete in MotoGP and pulled the plug because it was costing them too much to go so slow.

I have heard that the leg extension is to move to move weight down and backward to keep the bike from diving/doing a stoppie.

Suzuki pulled out because they were doing poorly, but are apparently making a comeback in 2014, but some have said they may come back next year.

how come no one asked where is kawi??? LOL

but yea, what they said...i remember when that leg thing came out and all the talk on GTAM.
pretty crazy stuff.

but not all the riders do it.

did you watch the warmup and qualifying? very very fun tv watching

You learn to hear where and how close competitors are, and can "assume" as to where on the track they are going. Also, there is probably some yelling, I yell at guys all the time on the track and it moves them out of the way.

Tell that to Stoner, he's always complains about the CRT guys being out there like it's a Sunday morning ride. Kudos to him, by the way, for going out there and racing despite his injuries. Very gutsy.

IMO,CRT was a mistake,Stoner was justified in complaining.Don't think Lorenzo was to happy with Rapp. It's two races in one factory and CRT.Feel real bad for Spies.Wonder where he'll be next year ?WSBK,Kaw,Beemer,Honda?

OTOH, MotoGP was on its way to becoming a grid of 8 bikes...CRT may not be the best plan, but I don't know where MotoGP would be in a few years otherwise..

All jibbirish to me, I don't follow WSBK or AMA superbike or anything like that. Now, if we were throwing out some names like Dungey, Thompson, Roczen etc I might have a freakin clue... oh, btw, we have a relatively local young Canadian that has just recently been signed to one of the largest motocross teams in the states if you guys need any incentive to watch some dirt cycles! I have nobody to talk MX with around these parts lol

It was Rossi who started the whole leg stickey outey thing. As others have said.. It's for better weight distribution. No race bikes have mirrrors. Neither do squids.

I was at Indy this weekend... Not the most exciting race ever, spies' crash really F*ed the guys in 3-7th place.
Couldn't help but laugh at spies, and also rossi for following a mile behind like a lost dog. I thought he got on a 250 by accident.

Yer tricks don't work here kiddo!!

Yelling, Whistling etc doesn't work on these bikes like it does on MX/Flat track and other off road based bikes.

fully enclosed helmets and the speeds kill the voice noise(i've tried it, I was the king of the whistle pass when I raced MX)
