Matching helmet to headshape

Im trying to find a helmet that fits properly with no pain and so far little luck Ive been told that I have a long narrow head after trying on several helmets and they all had alot of room around the sides. So i moved onto the Icon airmada which is apparently a pretty narrow helmet which still didn't fit correctly, so i tried the next step the Arai Signet Q. Which left me with pressure on the temples, not enough for pain but it was more than if the helmet was just touching them. (All were smalls, the extra smalls were too small.) So my question is what would you do in my place?

Helmets ive tried on
HJC FG 17
Shark vision r 1/2
Shark S700
Scorpion 1100/900
shoei quest
Suomy apex
Arai Signet Q
Icon Airmada/alliance
Bell vortex/RS1
Joe Rocket 1300

Ive also used the site that lists headshapes to helmets but alot of them have been discontinued in the narrow section.

I'm a long oval too. My main helmets these days are an AGV GP Tech and an Arai Signet-Q. IMO the Arai is not as long-oval as Arai thinks it is, but it's a decent fit on my head. The AGV is perfect, bit longer top-to-bottom than the Arai.

A new helmet is supposed to press against your temples BTW. It'll loosen some with time.

Hard to go wrong with the Signet-Q. If it still doesn't feel perfect after a while you can always experiment with different cheekpads and even a different comfort liner. (I got the thinner 5mm liner for my Large Signet-Q, so the helmet would sit a bit lower on my tall head.)

BTW I also have a Bell Vortex that I barely wear. It's not a true long oval, it's a bit rounder, but not as round as the RS-1 (which has a fairly neutral shape on the scale of narrow-to-round)

Have you tried a Shoei RF-1100/1200? They fit me really well, they might work for you too.

The higher-up level of helmets have interchangeable liners and pads that can adjust the level of comfort and fit per helmet. I'd take a few measurements and hit up Arai (or Shoei) and see what they say.

My friend has a similar situation to you, and at the show this year, they had an Arai booth where they measured his head shape and gave him an option of what fits. Not one model per brand is the same, so gotta keep looking. (He ended up with a Shoei Qwest I believe, price was right and it fit as well as the Arai's he tried)

Lots of options out there these days.

I've got the long oval melon as well. Complete pita trying to find something comfortable; especially on a budget. I started with a cheapie, the went to a shark RSF3, but still had pressure on my forehead. Luckily, Arai Profile helmets (which fit me perfectly) were going on clearance everywhere due to them being replaced by the Signet Q, so I got a great deal on one. Keep in mind that the padding compresses a bit (more in low end helmets than in higher end), so if the Signet Q was pretty close, it might be perfect one it is worn in. Agree that the liners are interchangable, so you may be able to sort something out that way too. I haven't tried on anything that is really a "true" long oval other than Arai.

go to a shop where they understand helmets and get fitted. Against all odds of getting set on fire here, go see John at riders choice on Dixie. He can help you get what you need, has options on brands and will sell you what you need, not what you think you need.

And PLEASE, don't go to a shop, get fitted and use an hour of shop time then order off the internet. If where ever you go helps you out to a level your happy with, buy your lid there.
