M2

Am going for my m2 and was wondering what I need and what they check for on your bike and what too expect? Thanks any input would be helpful!
Should I take my pipe off? It's a little loud?

check the sticky.
they will check your lights, signals, brake light front and rear, high beams, mirrors and horn.
make lots of head movements, the tester should tell you exactly what they'll be watching for.
oh yeah, did I mention check the sticky

When they ask you to swerve, do it accordingly and when it is safe to do so move back to the driving lane. Never stay on the passing lane. I almost failed because of that. They will not ask you to move back but they expect you to know so.

Are you going FOR your M2 or FROM your M2 to full M?

When doing the pylon slalom just remember that you don't have to cut it close to the pylons. You can take as much space as allowed in the parking lot that your doing the test in. What I mean by this is that you can do ridiculously huge figure 8's and still pass this part of the test (as long as you don't put your foot down and don't hit a pylon). The instructor will tell you this and if your not good at tight turns then trust me, take huge turns and keep good throttle control.

You should practice walking your bike in figure 8's. Keep the bike level and don't lean it towards yourself thinking that it's safer cause you may drop it, it's not.

It's a breeze, don't sweat it.

Ooh, a chance to use my awesome drawing again! lol I originally posted this over two years ago in a similar thread:

Where are you taking it out of curiosity? I was going to make a post about the BS at Drivetest but I'll just add it here. Just to add, I've been riding dirtbikes since I was 12 and had my full M for about 10 years but when I moved downtown Toronto I was a fool and let my licence expire so had to redo it when I bought a bike again.

I did mine 2 weeks ago in Brampton and the tester was a complete arse. Made everyone nervous and of the 5 of us, only a guy on a ninja 250 could do the slalom without putting his foot down. I touched twice and he failed me. During the emergency braking, he said get it up to 25-30kms, I had it at about 35, and stopped 6 inches from the line. He shook his head and said stop right on the line. When he was explaining to me that I failed, he told me I should go borrow a smaller bike (I ride a GS500F). I lit into him saying that wasn't realistic as this is the bike I ride, so why would I try and get licenced on a different bike. How failing someone for stopping before a line isn't realistic as if I was emergency braking I would want to stop as soon as possible, and that the only thing a slalom tests proves is you can weave through traffic.

Then I redid it in Orangeville this passed Monday. All 11 of us passed. I don't know if I just wasn't nervous or if the cones were further apart but I got perfect on the entire test. Tester couldn't have been a nicer guy and made everyone feel comfortable.

As for tips, I would recommend doing some slalom practice, and just try not to be nervous...it's not the end of the world.

Oh, and the problem with the diagram above, in Brampton the cones are only 10 feet from a roped area so you couldn't do the wide archs.

If you have flush and/or not very visible signals use hand signals during the road test. When I came back in the parking lot the guy said "you failed because you didn't use any signals" and I said "I did, every single turn, way in advance!" then he realized he just didn't see them. I redid the road part using hand signals and passed.
