Okay this board actually got me confused after i read a long thread on left turns. Everyone had a different opinion.

I have my m2 exit tomorrow and what is the person testing looking for? please answer if i am correct for the following;

1. Left turn at lights with a defined turning lane. I maintain right track and when i enter middle of intersection i move to left track

2. Left turn in a 4 lane street (2 each way) no defined turning lane. I stay in the right track of the left lane and protect my position and block lane and turn.

3. Two lane road one in each direction. I stay in the left tire lane and make turn when clear

1a. Defined turning left lane, yes keep your blocking position. (they don't specify or comment about creeping froward, but if you want to live, move to the left to see oncoming traffic)

1b. if you have 2 defined left turning lanes, you need to be in the right lane, in the 1 position, that the blocking position

2.always remain blocking position...

3.blocking position, blocking position, blocking position

1. Lane position is only marked on the approach, and if you have to stop before the line. Once you cross the line, you aren't marked on lane position. So you are correct, right tire track, or blocking position up to the line. Moving left in the intersection helps you see, but like I said, your lane position isn't markable in there (there's no lane).
2. Two through lanes, your position doesn't change just becuase you're turning. Unless there is some other reason not to be in the blocking position, turn from the blocking position and end in the blocking position. Again, position through the turn isn't marked so you can go deep or shallow, as long as you enter the correct lane on the other roadway and end in the correct lane position.
3. Yes. Again, your position doesn't change just because you're turning.

So i am correct on question 2?

i stay on right tire track of the left lane waiting to turn?

Why are you going to switch to the left track when you make the turn? You will still be in the left lane, you are supposed to anyways.

You are correct. There's a pretty good chance if you have a turn like that it's not being marked, but I don't know the route you're taking. Four left turns will be marked. You may make more than four on the route.

Thanks guys. Just got my full M licence about an hour ago in oshawa. It was a wet one but now i can warm up with a hot cup if cofee!

I was in correct position on all track positions, thanks again

congratulations!

I have my M2 exit tomorrow and I have a quick question too:

When making a left turn through traffic lights, AFTER the turn, do I remain in the left lane until further instructions? Or do I have to change to the right? I remember long long time ago when I did my G2 - this was one requirement - after making a left turn, IF there's 2 lanes, to move over to the right lane when safe.

You are correct - if you turn on to a multi lane road, finish the turn: proper tire track, cxl signal, mirror check. When safe, do a proper lane change to move into the right lane. Keep in mind it has to make sense. If there's a line of parked cars, or a bus stopped, you can pass them first.

I didn't do anything I wasn't instructed to do.

If they have to instruct you to move to the right, it's an an error. They should wait long enough to see if you'll do it in a reasonable time before marking it. Of course if the turn isn't being marked, it's a free mistake and they can just tell you to move over.
If you don't move right, and a business section that they're marking is coming up, you could get a demerit on the left turn for failing to move right, and another for riding along in the wrong lane in a business section. That's why they may give you a heads up and tell you to move right, so you don't get the double error, and you're in the proper lane to do the lane changes left and right.

Just go from correct track to correct track and if it is a two lane, yes move to the right.

Dont worry to much basically they just want to see that you ride smart and safe.

Today when i took my. test the road i was on was completely closed due to construction not once but twice. I stopped and when coast was totally clear i had to go into the opposing traffic lane.

If they see you are smart and can ride you will pass,

Move your head a lot
Look left ride every intersection
Stay on correct track

If you show them you know this, they dont care if you mess up a couple times
