BMW announced a limited production M1000RS (An S variant of the R, not a new RS.... stupid naming.)

Only 1000 being made. Crazy expensive. Basically a collectors run.

All the images on BMW's website are AI generated.

Seems strange why they would come out with this *and* still have the M1000R on the roster.

At first glance, both of them look very similar.

So the RS has the more hotted up M1000RR engine? With just an additional 8 hp? Seems like that's only the non-NA version. The BMW US website has it listed as being the exact same power rating as the M1000R - 205 hp due to EPA restrictions.

So... different colour scheme. 1000 units only. 3 kg lighter due to carbon wheels.

That's it?

Seems like a very low-effort cash-grab to me.

Edit: Also, looks like it's a hp arms race against the Ducati Streetfighter V4S:

M1000R: 210hp
SFV4S: 214hp
M1000RS: 218hp



Again, not sure why they just didn't do a M1000R mid-model refresh with the bump up in power?
