Lost my GoPro Hero 2!!!

I almost have tears in my eyes. Just bought it yesterday with my hard earned money and lost it today. I thought the suction cup would be strong enough to hold it!!!!??? Put it behind me facing backwards on the flat surface right beside passenger seat (I have a 2010 suzuki gsxr600). I tested it and it was pretty solid and then while riding, it fell off. I was headed south on Don Mills Rd and must have fallen off somewhere between Van Horne Ave and Fairview Mall dr. I parked my bike there and searched aloooooot but nothing. Happened around 6:20is pm.

don't know what to say???:(

i bought it off someone on kijiji so not sure if i can contact gopro for that. Oh it hurts everytime i think about it.

Awww man.. that sucks!! I'm sorry to hear that! I guess this is a hard lesson learned that if you do get another one, always always always tether it to your bike with a lanyard of some sort.. I'm sorry, that's just horrible :(
 
I've never had my gopro come off, aside from when it was on my helmet and I had my head literally run over by another bike. I've Been using gopros since 2009.

I've never used the suction cups, the adhesive pads won't come off without a crowbar.

If you apply it in a warm environment and give the adhesive time to set up, the mounts are rock solid in the cold. I wear it on my helmet on my mxz
 
i use a suction cup for my GPS in the cage and find that it falls off in hot weather. Good all winter but one hot day and it's on the floor.
 
north or south? I ride daily over that area so if tomorrow I see it ill grab it and let u know...
 
I suction cupped mine to the frontof my bike for a week at Deals Gap. Never took it off all week long. Even rode thru baby-head rocky riverbeds, down 16 miles of hiking paths, calf deep mud, 120 mph roads, and a half hour or so of very rough un- maintained gravel roads. Never once did it let go.

im talking about long duration in like -10c, in reference to the guy had a sticky pad fall from his snowboard. in freezing cold the sticky material gets hard, doesn't stick as well.
 
Email GoPro about your situation, they won't replace it but when mine came off (mounted low enough on fairing to rub the ground in a turn) it came out of the case and scratched the lens, they offered me a 40% discount on a new one. I had to document the damage and show how it was mounted, along with proof of purchase.

Now when I use the suction cup I REALLY pull/push/twist on it to make sure it really did get a good seal. Never had one come off again.
 
Also I always run some racewire to the camera (loosely so it doesn't make the camera vibrate) in case suction cup lets go, the racewire will at least catch the camera.

-25 mornings at 100+ kmhr for 12 hour days out on the trail taking the odd branch off the helmet lets me think if applied properly they work pretty good.

His issue is likely the fact it's on a bending snowboard.
 
Suction cups lost my trust after my GPS fell multiple times in the car while I was driving... Could be put in a pretty dangerous situation depending on how you react...
I have a camera mounted by a sticky pad mount on my helmet and a RAM mount for my gps on the bike.

Ive had a mount on my snowboard for two seasons and no issues, it's never come off or even loosened up, I was very careful about putting it on. It was inside for days and I cleaned and prepped the area well, then kept warm for a long while (days) before using it. First use was in deep snow on whiteface mountain! I still always have a clasp on a string to attach to binding or tether.

I think the strength of the mounts is very dependent on the install.


To the op: I just thought I would mention that when mine came off the bike it bounced bloody far, perhaps 150'!! If your going to check again consider te sides of the roads including the lawns and yards. Good luck on your search, hope you get it back.
