Hi All, bike got stolen last year in condo garage. Just got a new one this year. Found a few storage places but either inconvenient or don't allow to store bikes. Anyone know any place that does allow to store bikes @ Yonge/Finch area? or any advise on storage? Thanks a lot...

Hey, I can't help with your question, but I live at Yonge and finch too (at the Northtown Tridel buildings). Which condo so you live in where your bike got stolen?
and do you have a car to park the bike in front of? I park my bike between a wall and my fun car, which is usually there, and there is no space for anybody to go in with another person to pick up the bike and move it.

My bike was stolen at Yonge/Sheppard in my underground last year. Mint 2009 Monster ZX6.
My loss prevention advice for you is to buy an older, beat up bike. Theives are unlikely to steal bikes that are not worth their time. My new ride is a 2005 GSXR 600 with rashed and cracked fairings on both sides. Sure it sucks that I have to own something beat up while I live here, but I have a good feeling it will stay in my parking spot.
Why am i so confident? Because my bike was parked near 3 other bikes that were not stolen, and all of them were 2001-2005 models with some kind of aesthetic damage.
Do any of you use disc locks, alarms, or covers? I find that no one seems to use these in underground parking garages.
That would be my suggestion for starters. You're already going to make your bike that much less appealing in comparison to the bike right next to yours.

Google "Ask a motorcycle thief", it was the best 2 hour read I've had on the subject.
A couple of points:
- A disk lock on the rear is much more effective than on the front, harder for a good thief to swap wheels. More awkward to work on.
- Bring a stubby screwdriver or appropriate hex, remove your clutch lever. The likelihood of a thief carrying spary clutch levers / perches would be fairly minimal.
- Outside of an apartment building seems like the single worst place to leave a bike.
- Don't leave spare key or ownership in trunk.
- Always lock steering.

Looking at most "My motorcycle was stolen" videos on youtube, they're mostly dragged out into a trailer or lifted into a van so disc alarms wont really make much of a difference.

My best piece of advice bugaosuni, buy a Hyosung bike cover. Make sure ALL of your mods are reported to your insurance company so when it gets stolen, everything is covered.

Forgot the say my bike also had a disc lock and an alarm system. It was gone in 10 seconds.

Thanks a lot guys for all your advice. Currently have 2 strong chains through the frame to a pole and a cover. Hopefully they will pick on some other easy ones. I just wish it doesnt get stolen in summer time cos its gonna be lots of trouble to go through insurance and I lose time to ride as well...cos summer is so short in Canada. So if you are a ****ing thief and reading this right now, come back in ****ing winter time and steal...be a MAN....
They don't allow drills in a condo garage...those ****ing management people don't even allow a chain to the pole. but I do it anyways...
I am at the greenview building beside shoppers...I suspect it was a inside job. I park my car in front of my bike too and one day when I came back from work its gone...

I'm surprised that you guys had your bikes stolen with a disc lock and alarm. I would think that the thieves would get scared off by the loud noise / hassle. I can tell you that I haven't seen anyone in underground parkings use any kind of lock where I'm located.
Consider using them...I didnt thought its gonna happen to me too until it happend...My 2011 600rr gone in seconds...
