I have ridden ~150,000 km on clip links and never had a problem. Just make sure you install the clip the correct way.
 
Or use an EK with the bolt master link. I'm going to try one the next time.


I just put a screw type master link on my chain at the beginning of this year after removing it last year for a tear down. So far with about 3,000km with mixed riding (2-3hrs hwy, aggressive back roads, city rush, etc) and so far so good. Much easier than a rivet, safer than a clip, and seems just as secure.
